It is interesting that any conversation about a specific technology in TT instantly get converted into conversation about brands. We were talking about idler roles and then we get embraced into thinking of Garrard vs. EMT. Perhaps it needs to be...
Regarding the EMT arm bearings going bad in a couple of years from normal use, WTF? That's absurd! Is it a 997? There has to be a better explanation!
Me shocked too! The arm is 929. According to the tech, he has to chan...

An interesting devise, They allow to adjust the midle point of the RIAA curve. I never have seen it and I wonder why would it be necessary or desierable?

Romy, besides via the radio, did you ever have the opportunity to hear either the 948 or 950 in a domestic installation?...
Romy, besides via the radio, did you ever have the opportunity to hear either the 948 or 950 in a domestic installation?
I do not think that “via radio” would be very sane way to judge TT, would it be? I do not rem...

I'm a physicist actually :-) I'm denying modern physics every day. Not to deny the string theory one must be a complete idiot: 1+2+3+4+....=-1/12!!!I've made a stupid mistake and decomposed my EMT for cleaning and now, in big painsand with a help of ...
The real wet dream of mine, something that I would like to have but never went for is to have in the axis of the air caps a high precision step motor and a remote control that would allow me to modify the phono equalization...

So as an example let me present here Paul's analysis of my EMT930 (all the credits go to Paul R).
The objective of this particalr run was to test an apparent audiopedophile(tm) legend that a 78rpmwarmup or preforming of an idler deck helps to smooth...
There is an EMT unit (I'm not in the EMT fanclub, just found it by chance) with a control (not remote however) of the EQ:http://www.emt-studiotechnik.de/JPA66%20E.htmCosts a fortune, what else one could expect from the house, and ...

Paul, my system is back to the operational mode after the EMT tonearm disaster. Actually the biggest disaster was not the lost connection in one of the pins but....the bearing gave up according to my EMT tech (!!!) I must say I've never heard of a to...
Did you try to buy a cartridge, recognize that you do not like something and to try to return it back? Good luck with it.I think in today would we lost the battle for cartridge QA and we need to knowledge that the industry ...

But Stich firmly believes that EMT is a rubbish and he grounds his believes on some "laws of physics" or something like that ;) The remark of the guy in the original threadthat EMT must be CORRECTLY setup is crucial here. From my experience it seems ...
and the "semi -mean" thing I was trying to express it that I don't like a plot here. I can't support running from one cult symbol (EMT) to another (Micro Seiki) without any expressed reason .Going broke, fighting those fucken col...

Leaving all that unnecessary bitchings and emotions aside (btw, talking about TT resembles talking abut foundations of quantum mechanics, emotions and flames appear within seconds!),I've been, purely theoretically, thinking if employing 3 idlers or e...

RomyYour first question was "Does it do bass"... Yes, and it does it full frequency with great tonality. I am a ribbon panel owner as you may remember and also have modified Tannoys as monitors so I know easily when I am lacking in the bass departmen...

Stitch, way do you think it was foolishness? I see it as a reasonable thread and the question EMT 927 vs. Micro Seiki 8000 is sensible to ask.The Cat...

I think I remember the first FR from the mid-late 60s, and the FR7 came maybe 10 years later, so it could be pretty damned old. Wasn't this stuff from "Ikeda Sama"? Anyway, many older cartridges had/have damping materials that were not ozone-proof,...
Is there such a thing as partly unshielded arm wire? If you want that run shielded, don't you have to start at the cartridge connection?
Paul, the tonearm wire runs inside the metal armwands (EMT & SME), which in tur...

Scooter, if you happen to be in my part of the world, I invite you to stop by my place (I provide accomodation right in the city center) and listen to my EMT with O2.My Staxquiades won't be ready soon for sure, but my source is well operational(refur...

That's ok, I took it with humbleness-I've applied to much force without thinking. I'll use this occasion to change the EMT arm connector to normal 5din to have flexibility with phonocables. ...

Man, that's a whole lotta extra stuff to contend with! As for the DeOxit, I hope I never said it "burns", rather it just gets worse sounding over time, and HV connections are where it's happened fastest in my system, very fast on tube pins.Regarding...

Thanks for your thoughts Paul. The subject of the snubber has already been quite discussed.IIRC Romy has turned the whole idea down as uncessary in his context. I am afraid thata snubber may be a sonic move rather than only "engeneering". I'll first ...

Steverino, this is not the point who responded to whom and how.The point is that in your particular example: a balun (HF isolation tranny)placed after a (presumably) digital power oscillator the explanation of bettersonics might perhaps be reliably t...

Hi Paul! I'm sorry but I simply can't make any sense of what you are asking....Anyway, all the software has been designed by Paul R, I had no contribution here(Paul has contacted me asking for sampel of my EMT when the soft was already done)and is ba...
