Electrostatic tweeter for horns?
fiogf49gjkf0d
I came across an article:

http://www.ultrahighendreview.com/enigmacoustics-sopranino-super-tweeter-review

that introduced electrostatic tweeter that might be interesting.

The company has a web site that is to unpleasant to reread/navigate:

http://www.enigmacoustics.com

so, I used ultrahighendreview site as reference.

I am not familiar neither with company nor with the sound those tweeters produce. The response presented at ultrahighendreview is about right, however in context of something like Macondo it might have too shallow rolling in slope that need to be dealt with external filtration as internal in my view is too inadequate. I am not interested in considering this tweeter for Macondo but I rather this about a general application of something like this for type of acoustic system I know.

Horn-lorded MF channels are uselessly  run to 10K and a tweeter is always a subject of interest for a horn practitioner. Could electrostatic tweeter be used?  Well, it is hard to say. An electrostatic tweeter has at least 20 dB difference in dynamic range and who knows how compression driver would sound with them. I wonder if to take the idea of electrostatic tweeter for horns a bit further then EnigmAcoustics did and to add to this type of tweeter some testeroids of DSET amplification then would it be possible to supplement the lushness and liquidity of electrostatic sound with transient virility of compression drivers?

I do not know how the EnigmAcoustics tweeter is make, let presume that it is a good as it get. Still it shall have some internal filtration, a transformer, capacitance normalization  and who know what else. Let pretend that we toss everything from this tweeter accept the electrostatic membrane and then build a 20-30W tube amp that drivers the electrostatic membrane directly from the plate. Would it make the electrostatic to go alive and be able to play along dynamically with a compression drivers?
