I do not like the AMT Heil drivers at all. I have no idea what 5 times higher transient response they claimed but to my ears all AMT drivers I heard sounded like their upper notes are covered with 2 inch deep saliva. The Heil drivers are in my view t...

In my opinion the trend towards AMTs in mainstream audio ist justified. They integrate very well with direct radiator midranges, even when they are crossed low. They are more dynamic and detailed than fabric domes, but not absolutely unforgiving. The...

I am not quite sure why Paul came up in this thread with the subject of “ribbons sensitivity to... everything”. That is absolutely not relevant to the AHFS concept. el`Ol, the ribbons and AMT tweeter I feel absolutely identically wrong if to approach...
I have heard some nice speakers in Germany using the Mundorf Air Motion Transformers. No saliva, ample "substance" in their tone and a very nice integration.http://www.mundorf.com/AMTnews/MUNDORF_PRO_AMT_FLYER_2012.pdfhttp://www.e...

The AMT Heil driver had an interesting geometry that has much more surface area due to the accordian principle. At the time this technology was new, they had much extended output and bandwidth due to the higher acceleration possible with this unique ...

Hi,I am slowly building my own Macondo. I understand why the injection channel is there. It brings some kind of softness that the compression drivers lack. I am using a 12" JBL midbass driver (~100dB sensitivity) in a 50L single driver Marshall cabin...
Thanks for all the suggestions. As it happens, there were no exhibitors at the Flemings Hotel this year. But I did pop into the Stax stall before listening to anything else.
The Hifi Deluxe was in the Le Meridien.http...

You can build DSET for anything. DSET concept does not imply any topology but recognition of purpose and accommodation of a topology for the purpose. Generally the 93dB sensitivity is not something that I would attack with SET, unless you use SET aro...

Hi Romy,Thanks a lot for your reply! Very helpful but there is some misunderstanding...I personally have a WE91A 300b Clone, no ambition to build something with the tb3-2000....There is a guy building one though... ( I would if i could!)My problem i...

hi Paul
I was just checking recently.
My electrostatics work great, they also got excellent radiation in HF as the outer stators are lowpassed, so im using very slim 1 inch stripe (50 inch high) in the center only. Excellent radiation and smooth...

The Heil AMT drivers are well known in audio. There is a cult of people who follow them and they swear that Heil drivers are like nothing else. The Heil drivers were made by ESS, by Scandinavian, by German’s pro audio and by Russians. The do use defe...

I kind of got stuck in selecting an upper midrange driver, above 2kHz. If a driver is going to screech in your ears it is going to be in these frequencies. I was never really satisfied with the range of 1" compression drivers I tried. That is wha...

Hi Romy,Great site, got lost here for a while now searching WE13a after building a WE91a 300B set, quess have to reconsider sell and wil look in to the Melq's for the near future... Also it even got me a little in to horns...For now i have a question...

Thanks for the detailed answers. I will explain my setup. You are right about the dipole bass correction instead of the injection channel. Since I am waiting for both a subwoofer and the Fane Studio 8M and their horn, I am using the 12" as a b...

OK Romy, I agree this should stay here, especially that I will probably have more observations to come as from the late January.
I didn't explain the context of S3 use in my future system. I'm awaiting for a delivery of Beyma TPL-150 which will be ...

well, to add my bit of mustard to this here oldie thread.I HAVE mixed film and oils successfully in e.g. a tweeter x-over of a Burmester 961. The tweeter is an AMT (air-motion-transformer) and very revealing. The original C's are two sets of...
The 37 is 20 year old model and it is not in production anymore. The current production model for export market are 370(110dB), 370DX(113dB), 3880S(116dB).The driver spec. is 400Hz to 18kHz but the recommended crossover range i...

The recent events in my playback made me to think about he new prospective duty of tweeters. Since the Super Melquiades was enlisted for duty the Vitavox S2 got it’s own dedicated amplifier channel and stopped to “see” the coil of upper bass driver. ...

Yeah, "sound consistent independent of signal level" is a very precise way to sum up my whole speaker philosophy. Anything that is assumed to be constant, but which actually changes with signal dynamics is what ...

I built my "Ultimate Turntable" and did the long bearing approach. It is 8" long and .750" diameter. I have had a love hate relationship with the long bearing. While it is VERY stable it is extremely difficult to setup. The long length absolutely...
