Sorry I misread, I thought you endorsed the use of PP tube amps with compression horn drivers. Well it looks like were still in the same situation of not making them work. I could go on about why I feel they don't work, but it won't chang...

Firstly let me say that I believe musicians could be just about the most important people to judge the quality of Hi Fi. They know how the music sounds during creation so can best judge if that quality has been preserved (less destroyed) at playback....

I meant to continue, to say that I think I understand your contrasting amplification with sound/qualities of various channels. It seems to me that this channel-per-driver technique could give you the means to tune each channel very finely.I can a...

Hi Daniel. Sorry i meant the throat, not the mouth. But i think you mean the same :) Just for anyone else reading this not to scratch their head. I heard that on cheap plastic horns the mouth often rings, is loose, or not perfectly centered and then ...

Romy:I think you may find the link and the shoot-out, of limited value as they are, of interest. The S2 did not fare well at all, not surprising really, given its idiosyncrasies and how difficult it is to get anything remotely acceptable out of it. h...

Hi Jarek,Apologies for missing your post.To answer your questions:(1) Yes and no. I've bundled the preamp into its new chassis (that I made from scratch) and it does not sound as good as before. There is a grounding problem with the new installatio...
Hello Romy!
When I listened to the Goebel NXT speaker I was impressed how it can reveal structure or the absence of it at levels where one would really have to concentrate on when listening to a conventional speaker, and I find, ...

You have mentioned that you want a much larger enclosure for your oops unit[s]. I was then wondering if you aim to merely broaden and/or lower resonant response or if you planned to in some way tailor resonance as it relates to Fs. T...
Are this company thinking along the same 'Oops' lines?http://www.layeredsound.com/index.html
I have some experience with the 'Layered Sound' concept and although I haven't read all of this thread, I think that it doe...
There have been a lot of discussions about this before, but one must always take this sort of logic with a grain of salt. Musicians are trained to hear certain things in music and simply hear differently than non-musicians.&...

There is a speaker maker in Russia, Moscow – Alexander Kniysev who just introduced his own take on “Resonance Oops”. What he does is not my cap of tea and I see a number of issues with his design that I would object but it is not my speaker. Neverthe...

I saw that one of the DSP processors has an option to put a pair of "rear-type" ambience speakers in front, along with the main speakers. I am probably describing it incorrectly, but this sent my mind waay back in the GSC archives, to the days of res...

I tend to look at specs even though they might not tell much about sound. I saw that one of the DSP processors has an ambience type phase injection option for a pair of front ambience-type speakers, along with the rear ambient speakers. I am probably...

Hi Paul. Clear now. Well that "horn" actually adds a slight 6dB boost from 200 upwards, fading out around 1k. I assume that was just the missing piece to make most 8" driver (thats actually a fullrange) pretty flat up to the top. And likely what the ...

Playing tonight Bruckner Seventh I realized that something is very wrong in the system. The basses got insultingly “umfy”. Usually the basses in this music should be large but very soft and they should loll over with speed of like a senior hippopotam...
This is why the discussion of the Injection channel and the use of the loudspeaker like a resonant musical instrument is so apt.
Indeed, I did not realized that I shifted my thinking in this thread and an in my general v...

Well the discussion with Shelley was short and (obviously) about his panels. The oops effect was not mentioned. I'm sure in the context of his panels and Layered Sound that he understands what is happening. I have to agree though that in the context ...

Well, I was thinking about that “Resonating Oops” for a while. I made quite a number of experiments. I some cases I was able to get interesting results but the “Resonating Oops” is very illusive. I do know that many readers of my site have wrong perc...
