Hato, I do not what to caps on your little celebration, and to play with old Lamm 2.0 is a pure celebration, but I would like to pass two observations. The ML2.0 with Avantgarde Duo will work fine BUT will be a weak element. I do not want to critici...

Hi Fellow Forumers,This is my first newbie post :-) Do any of you have any experience with running a Lundahl 1627 in a Full Range Melquiades with Avantgarde Duo Omega speakers? The other options are to get some custom Amorphous OPT's <50R 350mA 8:1...

[quote user="Tax"]The other options are to get some custom Amorphous OPT's <50R 350mA 8:1 as per previous posts, or to possibly pair Romy's LF tributes (for sale section) with a pair of Lundahl's in a two channel DSET configuration. The Avantgarde...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]Tax what are you willing to accomplish by DSETing Avantgarde Duo? As far as I can see in any playback action and decisions it shall be a straight line of sight to some kind of objectives. What objective you have in your min...

Maybe you could "turn in ceiling " and use a Avantgarde Duo configuration for your 200- 1000 Hz horn ? I read a lot of good things about B&C 8PE21 8" driver in that range (John Hasquin -not sure if I pronunced the name right ) it can be ordered a...

You said are lucky to get hornloading down to 150Hz. Then I guess you suggest you will end up at maybe 175Hz. Hornloading a compression driver down to 175Hz is not too difficult and the horn will not be larger than the Avantgarde Trio midbass horn, a...

truth is i took a risk.i bought the s2s on ebay, and have never heard them.i was motivated to experiment and explore the core of the mac/melq system.i have owned many horns and heard many more. one case in point;avantgarde duo,i have heard this speake...

[quote user="Merlin"] If they are modifying conventional drive units by hand, the labour costs alone can be prohibitively expensive. The fact that they are using heavy Alnico magnets and coating the diaphrams suggests that these units do not co...

Coincident was not there, unfortunately. I, too heard good things about them but never had a chance to listen to them. Maybe I should try David Lewis - as much as I don't like going there, he has some good stuff once in a while.I liked the show. It w...

I got curious and dug until I found out that Alma Audio (a dealer located in La Jolla, near San Diego) was hosting the AudioPax/Avantgarde room at THE Show, Newport, 2015. This dealer's "website" is lousy, and I'm not interested enough to call them,...

I kind of got stuck in selecting an upper midrange driver, above 2kHz. If a driver is going to screech in your ears it is going to be in these frequencies. I was never really satisfied with the range of 1" compression drivers I tried. That is wha...

Murataltuev, I am not qualified to advise about the fine points of horns, per se, but I am guessing the big "slab" in the middle of each horns tower will create more problems than it solves, at least with respect to sound. Honestly, unless you are OK...

Josh, I admit I pretty much ass-u-me things sound bad until proven otherwise, because that's how it's gone for the 55 years or so I've been at this. Still, these are just the sorts of speakers I'd go out of my way to hear, given 1/2 a chance. Ironi...

Hi Samuel, I see that quite a few replies without much in the way of suggestions. Romy will not give you what you want, ie. a shopping list of speakers to audition, but I will give you one or two recommendations that I think sound quite good in...

Well the whole write up i just wrote disappeared. In one sense that isn't all that different from my experience of the Festival Son et Image here in Montreal yesterday. i'll be quick this time in the hopes that my post will get through. bett-er rooms...

[quote user="coops"]Romy Hi, I didn't particularly set out to 'demean' Avantgarde, they have a good business model, I don't believe it is a secret that they modify conventional drivers, I simply mean that the constituent parts of a Cessaro horn ...

Gargoyle, YMMV, but I associate LF propagation/amplification with mass; there has to be some way to really "anchor" at least the LF driver. I was thinking MF for the felt and/or paper horns, although I guess you could begin with a chicken wire form ...

I always said that the only goals that audio-reviewers is to drive the perception of their readers to the level stupidity or primitivism of a given product. As an illustration here is the Srajan Ebaen’s site. They came up with the Haliaetus review… i...
