Congrats on the new brats. And family. How things have changed. Even though Amy has introduced sound problems I appreciate the decoration efforts. Also the Angels playing strings tapestry is magnificent. So did you ever get Zarathustra functional...

Over the course of the enter 2006 Dima and I were involved into the Zarathustra II saga. It took countless phone calls, countless emails, a lot of thinking, numbers of shipments and many hours for Dima and me to propagate the project to it semi-compl...

nautilus981, I do not care too much about passive attenuators or about anybody comments on them. I do not use them and I advocate do not use them. I do not have plans to publics Zarathustra circuits. It is Dima’s circuits and I will live it up to him...

Amir, I hope that "real Music" can move you emotionally. I think and hope that your idea of "accurate reproduction" includes your own (appropriate) emotional reactions to the Music. On the one hand, I cannot simply accept that "detailed" Music is "ac...

Interestingly that I did not know what Zarathustra was. I heard this word somewhere as Richard Strauss’s composition but I never knew what was behind it. I would encourage whoever does not know to families themselves with what “Zarathustra” is all ab...

[quote user="morricab"]Could you explain a little more about the amp? If I understand you correctly it is a 1 tube stage with solid state (Mosfet or Bipolar??) output. If it is Mosfet then it is likely to be running without negative feeda...

Hi Romy, but I am simply curious that your Designed-&-Made-Yourself
have always had the flavour of the names and places from A Hundred
Years of Solitude ... Macondo the village, Melquiades the gypsy ... so
why the departue now to Zarathustra? ...

Hello, would it be possible for us to see the diagrams and schematics behind the Zarathustra II in the same spirit as the Melquiades was conceived, noting that the best of ideas are formed with the purest of sentiments?[quote]It is Dima’s and my stro...

A year or so ago I published the evolution of building my full range Melquiades amplifier:

Now, I am staring a thread where I will cover the progress of building Dima’s “Zarathustra II” ...

I have a conversation yesterday that encouraged me to think again about the Zarathustra II project. This 250W of pure class “A”, 90A capable hybrid is sitting under my bad horns. All parts are there and the amps 90% built… I need to finish it. It was...

It is interesting: I am running now Zarathustra amp with my woofer towers, line-level crossed at 90Hz with fist order. Everything is very fine bass-wise, with very minute touch of dominating smoothness. To my surprise the typical upper-bass har...

[quote user="Bud"]Perhaps this link and the information trumpeted within will help on this project. Certainly the leader of this pack has solid credentials in HF switching power supplies, though this particular link is actually about roasting transis...

Chris, I have no experience with good sounding SS amplifier that might drive high sensitive horns. I also have no expertise to build such an amp. From what I trued before I have learned that in order to sound more or less acceptable the SS should run...

I was pointed out today to 6Moons review of Canadian Tenor amp:
http://6moons.com/audioreviews/tenor/m350.html
written by Mike Malinowski -I do not know who the guy is. I have to admit that I treat anything that come from 6Moons with certain grain ...

While Dima is cooking the Super Zarathustra I figure out that I would need some test speaker to be able to observe the preliminary results. I would not be able to drive the multi-channel Macondo with a single full range amplifier, so I need something...

thee srp in Zarathustra is cathode bias, melq is grid bias. If gas biased the srpp it would no longer be the circuit in zarathustra. what would this do to sound i have no idea. The function of the gas tubes in melq are not only for providing bias. ...

Nope I’m not familiar with Octave Research OR1. I heard about Andy Rapapport but I never heard or have seen his amps. My thinking about all of this has littler rational and even less experience. I would never think about SS but the phenomenal success...

[quote user="Paul S"] I have been surprised that you have not already pursued the Zarathustra for your multi-driver, sealed LF. From your early descriptions of both, this seemed like a natural pairing and the most likely way to go, to keep the ...

I do not want go for emergency ULF amps and to pay more than $50 for it, in fact all plate amps shall cost $50. I will probably end up getting another B2 amp, identical to the one that blew up with the identical changes. I just felt that this no-ampl...
