OK, I think the first LF section for MiniMe is ready to get final paint. What I was preparing it I developed a very good filing for it. I still feel that it kind of too large to host the MiniMe MF section but itself the MiniMe bass section has an abs...

Again, moving the speakers last night I felt that I really would like to move the speakers closer to the mid of the room – the further the speakers from the back wall the more interesting sound. There is another “again” in what I felt last night. I t...

A friend of my after reading my comments about the EdgarHorn installation in Vegas (in here) asked me why do I think the bass in Bruce’s room behave as it behaved. I tried to think about it. Some of those thoughts intersect with some other projects t...

Since my left channel along with midbass horn is more or less configured I made today a first rest of the full assembly - with LF section. The midbass does somewhere hear 40Hz and I set the LF section for 34Hz, drove it from B2 via the SMS crossover....

oi Romy ,Since you added a new parameter in audio play back called : Decor I'm afraid, it may make it far too hard.anyhow can I see 360 degree view of your room (video) ? I am afraid you are in wrong shape of set up in first placeFor instance from...

That is funny but I received a few emails from audio people suggesting that I am a nut because at I suddenly expressed queasily in a monitor loudspeaker. Ironically only one of them uses some-type horn loading loudspeakers and the rest use large floo...

Maybe we should just start by trying to think of a viable way to get down to 20 Hz in a reasonably sized enclosure driven by an SET that must also drive the rest of the system. This was always the sticker for me, and this was a major ...

Well, I figures that while I am not sure what to do with LF section and where to locate it I will live with my woofer tower from my old listening room. They did not work well as Lower-Upper-bass channel installed next to Macondo but in odd place, han...
As for the "Grande Castine", I think that the MF section is in fact the MF/LF section and the frame is indeed curved.
If this speaker does not use any complimentary LF section then they drive the woofers at let say 40Hz. A...

.. and I have no problem with “few” of the metal domes implementations. I wonder if David Wilson “preference” for metal domes derives from the fact the he needs an aggressive upper range to get equilibrium to the noise of Wilson ports coming from Wi...

Well, in context of a full-range speaker, like largest Wilsons or the similar, the answer would be unquestionably no. Even if we biamp those speakers then the LF still is too wide bandwidth and too geographically bind to the MF section. The wor...
Some rather astonishing features. I'm very interested to hear it.
Hello Markus,The Castine prototype was discussed a while ago in this thread an...

Well, it unquestionably much better, still I am afraid that they are trying to spread one ass across two chairs; I will talk about it in the end. The change from what was before was around the frame and upperbass horn. It looks like the guys are tryi...
I make 6 drivers = 95.8 db/W. You get 3db / doubling of the number of drivers ie 88 + 10log10(6 drivers). That's why I'm going with a bunch of Lambda TD15S (which are sort of a cross between the Altecs cone - paper, curved, ...

While Dima is cooking the Super Zarathustra I figure out that I would need some test speaker to be able to observe the preliminary results. I would not be able to drive the multi-channel Macondo with a single full range amplifier, so I need something...
Not necessarily: they could be separate boxes, interconnected by short cable. This allows some freedom of movement between top & bottom (like some of Wilson's products or A-Physic's et aliae).
After posting the article in Audio For Dummies ™ section:

I had a long conversation with a friend of mine who blamed in ignorance and luck of sincerity on the subject. He is a strong believer i...
Not to start a pissing contest, but how are they wired (series/parallel?), and with what voltage across them? Something just can't be right; the makers spec is 88db / 2.83V, which is over 1W. Unless it's uniquely smooth room gain wit...
The other options are to get some custom Amorphous OPT's <50R 350mA 8:1 as per previous posts, or to possibly pair Romy's LF tributes (for sale section) with a pair of Lundahl's in a two channel DSET configuration. The Avantgarde...

Bruce told me last year that he started to manufacture 80Hz straight horns to replace his 80Hz. I was under impression that you refer to it.
Anyhow, if your midbass horn is fine then one of the most effective ways to get it even better is to reduce...

Why not? Wilson for many years each 2-3 years updates own flagman. They had Grand Slamm’s number of revisions where they constantly change tweeters, other driver and resistors in crossovers, introducing new rounds of opportunities for the custome...

Recently Macondo was altered and converted into… nope, not into a Super Macondo :-) but in a “Larger Macondo”. The Super Macondo it will be when I resolved how to implement time delays along with a low pass flirter at midbass horn, that would enable ...

Hi Fellow Forumers,This is my first newbie post :-) Do any of you have any experience with running a Lundahl 1627 in a Full Range Melquiades with Avantgarde Duo Omega speakers? The other options are to get some custom Amorphous OPT's <50R 350mA 8:1...

Well, it is very obvious what MiniMe needs. The speaker is begging for multiamping. The speaker has 2 distinctly different sections. The HF section has 4-5db higher sensitivity and SET friendly. The LF section needs 100W of output impedance that deal...

OK, I decided to stop today to do what I do as it does not feel like me anymore. For a month as I live in here and have the playback up my playback is a source of great pain and I do not like it. I am accustomed that I turn the thing on and USE it. ...
