A couple months back I sent to Dima a link with a wonderful collection of audio articles from first part of the 20s century:

In next couple days, talking with Dima he asked me: “Roma, what is REL Company a...

Play with REL I made other modification the boosted the REL sensitivity to insane level. I modified the way in which my REL delivers antenna’s signal to REL’s front end. Now my REL has BNC ground lifted antenna jack (I tended to use BNC connectors fo...

Hi Joe;Just received notification of recent responsis re: my origonal question over a year ago. Let me know if you locate the box and can send a couple as I really need them. (Getting around to finally setting up 2 I have in a new system)Thanks so mu...

Figuring out how to switch REL Precedent’s IM bandwidth to more suitable for Stereo operation I was wondering about something else. The 250kHz window though which the REL Precedent looks to the FM band is might be fine for DXing or having good select...

So, to recall everything g the 3 major modifications were done on REL tuner:
1) Change of Detector diodes from 60 year old glass diodes to 1N5711– with huge advance to Sound
2) Change diodes that come to grids of the limiter stage t...

Hello All;Any idea where I can get an antenna connection for an REL tuner. It appears to be a clear plastic connector with holes in one end and set screws to secure the strands of a 300 ohm dipole antenna with another end that plugs into the back of ...

Yes, that WAS a common connector but this won't help you now. Radio Shack sold those as recently as ten years ago.Since the female side of the connectors has spring terminals there is some variability permitted in the diameter of the male contacts. I...

Joe,How can I get one? Or, even a picture would help.Thanks.Mark...

One of the ways to drag the REL tuner in the realm of civilized sound is to get rid of any crap that it has after its detector. One of the first things is to replace the 60 years old Germanium diodes with contemporary ultra fast and ultra low capacit...

[quote user="Paul S"]Do I recall that the REL had a fairly "unusual" tuning section - among its many features that were (and still are) novel for a "civilian" tuner - , and that many of those old parts were not only top, SOTA mil-spec back then but m...

A few days back I got rid of the 60-year old Germanium glass diodes in the REL detector and put in there the regular 1N4148 4pF low-signal diodes/ it was quite positive improvement. I need to be said that detector diodes are not the regulars diodes b...

Hm, I am not familiar with Starker’s take on Schelomo. I have his Jewish sketches with some Japanese pianist. Well, whoever he did worth having… BTW, have you seen Rostropovich playing Schelomo:

Well, Nerone, the differences between any tuners would greatly vary with signal, not even with the strength of signal but rather with the specific location and surrounding of a given station. To make the things conceptually right it wou...

Romy, does the REL use capacitance or inductance tuning? I was thinking H. Of course all the old caps are shot. That's another case where the True Vintage Believers (TVB) are really too funny, when they insist on "original" par...

Looking at the better photos, with a rear view of the LF speaker, the "felt-covered large port" is actually not the worst possibility (a quasi "IB"), depending on some things we can't see and how well that driver "likes" it. I can also see that what...
