Avid Listener --- Stereo Hi-Fi Directory
http://www.avidlistener.com

Avid Listener is a directory of stereo hi-fi manufacturers, dealers, distributors, and information. The focus is on two-channel home audio systems. Our audience includes audiophiles, music lovers, and industry professionals.

Unlike automated search engines, Avid Listener's directory is meticulously researched and rigorously maintained. We manually verify each link every two months, with the goal of providing a positive experience for users by minimizing defective links.

Other unique features include a thumbnail image preview for each external link – available as a ‘tool tip’ that appears when the user’s mouse rolls over the link description.

Please let us know if we've missed any of your favorite links! Regards, Ron Rathe

You might play with the idea if you wish…
Ron, if I may, then as a software engineer, I would pass some criticisms regarding to what you do. It is fine that you are soliciting sponsors but I do not think that sponsors get anything for their sponsoring. The taglines that sponsors allow to create are not really useful as if you see at the existing taglines of the Sponsored Link then they do not really extend information about the link. I think you need to provide more functionality for the sponsors (perhaps to let them to have own little one-page portal on your network). Also, if you are in “that sort of things” than you might consider to explore my old idea of “The Open Door Audio”. The sponsored “Open Door” is a concept where a person has an opportunity to find within a selected region a private listening room with an owner of the system agreed to demonstrate to a visitor a performance of a sponsored component. A sponsor would pay to you an annual subscription and would pay, I would say, a $100 to the owner of the listening room per session (depends of the cost of the product and the result of the buys actions). This way the sponsors will be motivated to maintain your database (via the same portal) of his Open Door participants. Anyhow, you might play with the idea if you wish.

Thanks for your comments --- I agree!
Thanks for your suggestions.

A few of our sponsors have taken advantage of the tag line's "searchability" to promote, for instance, the product lines carried by a dealer. But your comment is well taken - an informative tag line containing factual information with relevant keywords is the key to maximizing the value of a sponsorship on Avid Listener (or any other Web-based directory or search engine). We will redouble our effort to promote that concept more effectively, since it ultimately benefits both sponsors and users.

Our main focus is on providing value to our users - and we're gratified to receive positive comments about the quality of our directory on a regular basis.

I like your idea about "The Open Door Audio"; but that is well beyond our area of interest or expertise.
