My horn speakers system. (from Thailand)
Hello all (from Thailand)!
I found this very intersting horn society here by accident and would like to show and share my first experience with horn speakers system.

It's consist of 4 way system .

The bass units are JBL 4560 enclosures with JBL 15 B .

The mid low unit is GOTO 555PS with old RCA horn (extend the passage for lower frequency response to ~150 Hz).

The mid-high unit is YL 35000 compression horn (my previous unit was ESS ribbon driver).

The tweeter is YL18000 compression driver.(my previous unit was JBL 077).

Here is picture of my previous mid-high and tweeter unit .

This monsters were driven with Conrad Johnson Premier 4 with custom built preamp and phonostage.

The sound is glorius but may lack of lowest octaves , so I have a little help from my REL strata 3 for some kinds of music.
Sorry for too many pictures ,any comment please welcome  !

You need to make the Second Step.

Hi, Touch.

I see what you are trying to do. However, I think that you have reached a point in your craziness when you need to stop using off the shelf accidental horn solutions. I feel you need to recompile your system as a custom installation that would take advantage  and capitalized on what you appreciate in your selection of horn and drivers but in the same time will use the channels in the most winning for them arrangement.

Many horn people start from what you did – use some pro or vintage horns and driver, dumping everything all together and trying to get some kind of acceptable sound out of it. It is OK but the next step would be to figure out what and why some things works and then come up with better channels arrangement. With less compromised utilization of the selected drivers, horn and crossovers.

Frankly, I have seen many those accidentally piled up horns setup. They might be fine but they are not truly a subject of a person’s mind. Those, accidental channels produce accidental Sound and the next step you would take would be more indication about your understating and your intentions. BTW, if you feel that that the “sound is glorious” now then I might only assures your that using even for your drivers more proper horns and more proper channel positioning you will be able to get a few thousands (!!!) percent of improvements. Also the 100W PP Conrad-Johnson would be very questionable amp to drive the thing. Did you ever consider SET, at least for MF charnels?
