Who builds horns: The Azurahorn from Australia

As I learned today the Australian Martin seddon know as the Azurahorn Guy has a web site and he also does horns:

http://www.azurahorn.com/azurahorn_tradesecrets.html

From Martin’s site:

Azurahorn is best described as a long term audio project, funded by occasional horn sales.  I developed a method of making accurate moulds, without expensive tooling, in order to explore the Le Cléac’h expansion in a variety of different set ups.  I now have moulds to make a range of fibreglass horns, for Full Range Lowther type drivers, and for Compression Drivers.

All secrets are here revealed, so you can set up you own horn factory if you wish.  Or you can order from me, and spend the time you save listening to music.

The following flare rates, in a range of throat sizes, are available:  160Hz, 204Hz, 340Hz and 550Hz. Plans and sections are provided for 50Hz  ‘Push-pull’ horns, or stand-alone Bass Horns.
Le Cléac’h horns create natural sounding music, with a deep involving sound stage.  This is a common finding reported by many users across the range.

I would like to thank Jean-Michel Le Cléac’h for his beautiful curve, given freely to all – and the brave experimenters who kept me going with their encouragement, orders, and commissions.

Kiom,

very good, welcome to family of crazy but real people. 1m diameter is 120Hz horns, that is good. Still I always wonder why people who do horn talk juts about the mouth size. Horns are characterized by mouth size, profile and length (throat size) and material. 1m horn with a 30cm throat is a horn but would need such a horn (dispute that foolish people mostly use exactly that type of horns). I wonder if that 125Hz horn that you propose to do … would it be the same $4000 if the horn had 30cm throat and with 10cm throat?

Throat size doesn´t make any price difference

Hello Romy, hi all

I can make the horns with any requested throat size, 30cm or 10cm diameter, price is the same- USD 4000 the pair.

The wood lathe will be ready probably end of this week.

As soon as I have pictures, I´ll post them.

Price is for a pair, painting included. Color and finish -a wide variety can be choosen from.

High precision of the requested horn profil (tratrix or hyperbol) is abtained.

The fault alert.

I am sorry folks for the post above. It turned out that poster “Kiom” is an impersonated “angeloitacare” – the celebrated idiots that should not be posting at this site. It kind of became suspicious since “Kiom” did not understand the price deviation with throat size. The people who met angeloitacare in person did notice that this cretin lacked basic ability to cognitively comprehend elemental things….

Anyhow, I have no idea what magnets that dirty-mouth, foul and malicious angeloitacare-idiot at my site.  I many times informed him directly that my “definition of success” in horns is a large circular saw cuts that “angeloitacare” on two half. It is shame that this dupe trying to pretend that he does something with audio. He is an idiot, his Moronic speakers are idiotic, his thinking is idiotic, his perceptives are idiotic, whatever he touches he convertes in idiocy, his fucking kids will be idiots even he will not be using his fucked mind and stupid hands to make them. How much man-loving should I demonstrate in order I never hear about this humane-waste again?

Electronluv/ e3 fabrication we can build horns.
Hi Romy

We build horns anyway some one would like ,  i have been making the horns that are in the pic for me  + the drivers that it use the drivers are a mid bass driver are a
6" alum field coil driver i like the sound of field coil magnets + easyer to build , the mid drivers is a 3" alum field coil driver , have learned alot about building drivers in the last couple years it sure is fun!! but i have a machine shop so it is just my time , you are very much correct about high flux in gaps there is a sweet spot for bass drivers and mid drivers and it is not the highest flux in the gap as for tweeters you want the highest you can get, the  mid bass horn is a hirydrbolic curve and turns in to a tractrix for the last couple feet mouth section. it is a 55" wide by 72" tall , length is 14' with a 6" throat. the mid horn is a mod tractrix that open fast 33" mouth 3" throat 17"long.
It did have a tweeter that i builded but it needs to be reworked sounds better with out it, the mid driver can play up to  20,000hz.

On day soon i will finish the set up the horns are made from steel and alum with a tar and sand mix that is applyed to outside to deaden the steel.

Electronluv hosns.
Electronluv,

I combined all your images into one post and pulled the images to my servers, I hope you do not mind – I juts do not like the deep-link the images to other sites. I have seen you horns before. It is nice that you have your services available for others and it is very interesting that you make your own drivers. I would have a number of critique and concerns about what you do and if you would like I might ask/express them in a separate thread dedicated specifically to you systems.

The Netherland’s Horns for Vitavox and others.

There is a guy named Ad in Netherland who makes looks like aluminums (but I am not sure) horns for 1.5 inch compression drivers. The first picture it looks like an exponential: W=39cm/15.4Inch. L=45cm/17.7Inch.

I do not know if Tractrix and the French profiles are available. Also I do not know if the different horn sizes and different thickness of the horn’s walls are available. I do not know also if the 2” are available. The adaptors for 1” Altec are available however. The prices is E600 for unshipped pair. The guy could be contacted at: ad~at~artpassie~Dot~nl

Nope, I am much larger, much bolder and much more obnoxious. I told that I never heard/seen your horns. In fact I thought that this installation was in your home or in a home of your close associate as the systems uses your steam-locomotive-shape amplifiers.

Nah ,I don't think
that Romy exist at all. Nobody really saw him nor heard his system. Information is scarce and coming almost exlusively from The Cat himself. Personaly, I suspect that "Romy" is a collaborative effort of sadomasicist who run Audio Asylum .It is some satanic scheme beyond my comprehension.

I hope you understand where I am coming from.

Tuga,

it getting turned into the angeloitacare-level of posting. The entire idea of this thread was to innumerate the sources of horns makers:

 Romy the Cat wrote:
I constantly contacted by the visitor of my site and some people that I know me in my none-internet life inquiring me who could build horns. Ironically, despite the simplicity of the task, if a person has a clear idea what he is willing to accomplish I his horn then s/he has is insultingly limited number of masters who could accommodate custom requirements and to build the horns at the demanding level of quality. Most of the horn makers try to make the cookie-cuter horns, unfortunately not the best cookie-cuter horns…. What is more unpleasant is that when a customer has some specific requirements that do not comply with the manufacturers cookie-cuter visions then the manufacturers begin to load on the customers all imaginable BS, deception and lying trying to convince the customer that the customer own vision should not be even considered.

So, who cold build the real tailored horns? Please post names, contact information or if you are a horn builder then please direct advertise here.

None of the manufactures you named over custom horns of sell separate horns, so it become more look like horn porn site. There is really no need to do it.

It seems like they are ending their sale of horns to the DIY community. Also, some people say that www.azurahorn.com are closing down. Not good news!

Which brings a very interesting subject: a huge failure of horns-industry to shape the horn-loading concept as a product. Pay attention that there is no successful horn-loading venture targeting home use that developed a vision of horn-loading where purchasing of horn would be juts tool or a mean in accomplish a much deeper task. Instead the horn makers ether target the ignorant and mostly low-demands pubic, the pubic that is clueless what to do with horns. Alternatively the horn makers feed foolish fuel to fire of different  idiotic cult s– the cult that mostly are at the same level of ignorance as the ignorant pubic. There is no conceptualized view of horn-loading installation (beside  my Macondo concept) that industry has developed and therefore for most of uninformed people just buying the “horns” is as useful as for me buying a or a trombone.  I hope that sometimes someone would pop up with development of the horns field instead of development of individual and in most cases irrelevant or faulty products. I would be very embracive of some kind of “interesting” horn company would show up and attack the horn project full-time.

Stereo lab continued

Stereo Lab, to whom Romy drew attention at the beginning of this thread, offer their products on Ebay at what seem to be reasonable prices. See here (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Stereo-Lab)

Looks like the small horns are made of artificial stone, whereas the larger ones are combinations of fibreglass and artificial stone.

Romy, do you think their "Lowther" 140 Hz horn, seen here,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Spheric-Wave-Tractrix-Horn-cf140hz-Stereo-for-Lowther_W0QQitemZ190202066763QQihZ009QQcategoryZ22062QQcmdZViewItem

may be used as an upper LF channel?  There seems to be quite enough room to play with in the rear chamber and the throat size seems big enough, even if it is not specified.
