Maybe we need phantom power?

In recording, we have literally miles of wire with very low level signal - and still can get A level sound. Professional microphones use phantom power (48V). Maybe we need this for standard interconnects. I know of no experiments with liquid in any normal or audiophile grade studio situation.
Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.
