Schimmel's Voxativ Ampeggio speakers

Romy what is your opinion on Art Dudley's review and Stereophiles announcement Product of the Year of the Schimmel's Voxativ Ampeggio speakers. I've been reading all the magazines for 15 years and I am shocked that they did. This kind of product hardly gets any press. Dudley really went out on the limb for that publication. Also what is your opinion on these speakers. Curious what you think after I read the review.

StylinLP.

I do not know the Voxativ Ampeggio speakers, I hover heard them or never read about them. If you read my site then you know that this type topology would not attract my attention and I would not make any efforts even to hear them. I do not subscribe Stereophile and I would not buy it to read what they make up as the Product of the Year.

However, why you are so irritated that Art Dudley nominated this loudspeaker as outstanding achievement from this year? I am not trying to be sarcastic I just say that it is very possible that AMONG THE REST OF THE crap the audio industry put up this year those Schimmel's Voxativ Ampeggio might be a reasonable accomplishment. I do not know what was introduced this year. Art Dudley is in room, he doe monitor what is going on, and he might have a point. I do not know, I am very much not the best person to ask about the Products of the Year, particularly among those who pay to Stereophile and particularly by the people who been reading all the magazines for 15 years…

Craziness

Thanks for the response! Nah, not irritated, just curious that a publication infamous for reviewing over priced/hyped monsterous high powered gear suddenly not only reviews a high efficiency hornloaded lowther-style speaker but gives it the Product of the Year award. Craziness! The thing is, there has been many many speakers like these offered in the last 15 years and they never got any attention. Strange....

You are right that there were many speakers like these offered in the last years but you wrong by saying that they never got any attention. The industry and DIY people constantly invent new legends for themselves to promote to each other the idea of back-loaded yellow drivers. They have huge attention and huge following, mostly among the very idiosyncratic and ignorant community, nevertheless large in volume and strong in their zeal to be heard. I see no surprise that Art Dudley bite into it and felt that he might cook something on the flame the yellow driver people have ignite. We have seen lot of similar efforts in past, if you remember until recently there was an unfortunately-celebrated Japanese 4” yellow driver that was sold for $65K alone. People do not pull this thing from nowhere or based upon the performance of these drivers. it take a lot of efforts of many Mr. Dudleys to make it possible.

BTW, I do not blame Art Dudley in any contrive efforts. I do not read what he does and I do not know his views or objectives. It is very possible that he was truly taken by those Ampeggio speakers. After all when the writing idiots of Stereophile caliber write their infomercial for Kharma or Magico it is not because they do not “feel” that they are write.

The best about the subject was said approximately 10 year back by an editor of famous Canadian reviewing sweetshop. They were pushing one American company and the company made a new product. The product was very bad the owner of the company himself understood that it was crap and he asked the owner of editor of that Canadian reviewing house how he can get positive acclaim from them. The Canadian editor informed that it was now a big deal and they in staff specific deaf idiot who specialize in sniffing a pile of bowl movement and publishing that it was a perfume. Who know, perhaps Stereophile  hold Art Dudley for the same role and for the same “expertise”. I truly do not know what is going in under the Stereophile hood but I will not be surpassed to anything.  If Schimmel prepay ads in Stereophile for next 5 years than they might even declare that Voxativ Ampeggio is missing link between fish and mammals or something like this…
