I played with this Behringer DEQ unit for a couple hours. What the magnificent machine would it be if all functionalities work! I mean they all work but they all make sound like shit, even this unit in hard-bypass sounds like shit and there is no oth...

I experimented with a DEQ2496 on and off for about 6 months, and had a love-hate relationship with the unit. I eventually dumped the machine. The unit has a ton of features and in someways makes conceptual sense, in someways does not make practical...

Thank you all for your ideas and suggestions on RTA.Romy -- you are correct, measurements always need to be made in context of sonic experience and more importantly musical intention. For me, though, to begin the process, I need to unlearn much of wh...
I am interested to find out more information about how DEQX will help solve my issues with getting better soundstage, imaging and depth with the Edgarhorn Titans.
Marc, finally I have something to say. I also have the E...

Oh yeah, I ALMOST forgot about TIME!Think of frosting a cake and putting "swirls" in the frosting...Now, try listening to the swirls while you eat that cake!I ALMOST hate to admit it, but in some ways digital X/O actually "makes more sense", especial...

Andrew, this seems like a classic case where the "inversion" processor would be - essentially- DEQ/DSP. I realize that most people do not worry about DSP, but in my own experience to date it simply kills the sound, no matter the other gains from a f...

Thanks Romy, very interesting thread.I've never tried the analogue inputs for the DEQ2496. If I want analogue in (which is rarely) I use a mytek a/d which sounds quite nice (but oneday when I get the time I'm going to modify it with i/p transformers ...

No question the Behringer has a ton of functionality, especially at under $300. The simple RTA is useful on the fly. I think and hope this tool will help with the MiniMe development.
I always wondered why the DEQ sounded so veiled but suspected ...

I did not have a lot of time to ply with my new DEQ options. From what I have seen it turned out to much worst then I remember it. This think make soul-dead sound and I do not think that it shell be used for any purpose. I still have some thoug...

I think this subject should be collected in its own thread. It is interesting that both Romy and I have just got the Behringer DEQ 2496 to try in our systems, so hopefully there will be some data to report here.
It was previously said that the DE...

Zanon, I do not mean DEQ, but that is one way to do it. D[SET] is another way; and it can be done in real time, by a couple of means. If you actually settle on the mid-field monitor approach, you will want that sort of speakers installed before you g...

Kerry, from what you have said so far, I am not surprised that you have gone whole-hog digital. I see that yours is an HT system. The first thing anyone here would say is, physically time-align your HF, although I suppose you "could" do that with DEQ...

Paul S:DSET is a very high power solution to a question that I only have a very primitive understanding of. It is not right for me at this time.I would prefer if the model etc. of my speakers not be involved in this discussion. I know I am committing...

You are correct, though I believe the subwoofer covers only below 35 hz.
So???
So, my thought was that below 35 hz, there are many ways of thinking about amplification. Some might say S...

Hi,
I mean that EQ is a fine “tactical solution” but it a very bad strategic direction.
I guess the question of the strategic value is dependent on the strategy.
Look, there ar...

Gluttons for punishment, Mark and I went to the Newport

lower audio expectations seemed to be, even lower than last year. It seemed
like it’s sunk to the poin...
