I think the most room friendly and the most universal Danley speaker is the SM60. It has a 5 inch coax and two 8 inch bass speaker in a tricky molded horn, and small, light enough to use it with a standard telescopic pro speaker stand and keep it abo...

Josh, I never tried exactly what you are describing, and I don't understand how it would "cancel errors" in real life, but you should try it. For a similar-but- opposite take, have you seen the Danley multi-driver horns yet? There's more on these -...

Tom Danley, the owner of DanleySoundLabs is an interesting not BS-type of guy. I would not be surprised if his middle-like speakers sound more interesting then majority if high-end audio speakers. It not necessary says that his Danley’s speakers grea...

Thanks, Josh. I looked for it and found a good link that accumulates a lot of recourses about Danley DTS-10.

I did not know about DTS-10 but this morning I did sent to Tom a...

If I think about the last 10-20 years, the only name that keeps coming up is Tom Danley. Synergy and Unity horns and tapped horn subwoofers got a fair amount of traction in the pro sound and DIY HiFi world. Just about everything else is “old technolo...

I tried dozens of different PA speakers at home in the last 5 years, and I honestly can say the only speakers could be used at home are the Danley SOundlabs speakers - at least according to my experience. The new SM60 is a very room friendly speaker,...

This is an old topic, but just in case, Danley now offer the DTS20, and that seems to have the format ratio Romy was looking for in the past.
Cheers!

Hi Romy,You should have to check Tom Danley's speakers at http://www.danleysoundlabs.com/. He has quite a few tapped horn subs and Synergy horns for PA, but there are people using his speakers at home, like myself. I have changed from Avantgarde Acos...

Whilst I am in UK I found a local guy who uses Tom Danley's unity horns for home installation snd drive them with SET amplification. This is very interesting as I never heard them and very much look forward to familirize myself with this new toour so...

Actually (probably because of the phase coherence and tight dispersion control) they sound very good even with some basic equipments, like the small 300 USD Parasound zAmp for example, but I like them most with the pro MC2 Audio MC1250 amps or the Fr...

[quote user="noviygera"] I am NOT talking about single wideband drivers or any back loaded type horns. I am talking about properly made front loaded horns. For example, the Danley Synergy horns, that use single horn with multiple drivers to cover a w...

I tried, unsuccessfully, to post that link, but you found it. I am not certain if you will find useable comments about its sound, but there are some there that are quite knowledgeable and many others that are number jockies. The size/format is also ...

I’m absolutely certain that the mids and lows are designed in the same function supporting fashion as I described the compression driver. Danley explicitly explains this in his patent. For my own amusement, I went through all the math and calculation...

[quote user="decoud"]This is a synergy horn, a topology that Danley has a patent on, I believe, and certainly the most expertise. There have been extensive discussions on this site about it, including Romy's theoretical objections to the idea. In a s...

Nope, I do not. Well, I understand it but I am not willing to acknowledge that I understand it as the Synergy horn idea looks too fre...

First let me say I am NOT trying to promote the Synergy horn. I just think it is very intresting to look at and to think about.Ideal loading only occurs at a singular frequency within any horn. This ideal loading point is where the length is 1/2 a wa...

The thing is, other people have been here before, and between them they have already gotten results that would take most of us at least a few steps closer to verisimilitude. Sorry to be such a whore, but it just seems reasonable to make use of readil...

Yes, it is a standard SH-50 run as Danley suggests. I have little experience of traditional horns beyond a macondoesque 3-way tractrix stack I created so as to get a feel for horn sound. I'll drop you a line about the melq builder....
