I have to admit that I hate the Altec 604 in the same way I hate a few similar drivers other companies made in the same topology. Jean Hiraga made a loudspeaker around Altec 604, I have no idea how it sounds. People who read my site know that I d...

TwoGoodEars posted at his blog a report about is listening session or some kind of installation. I still have no idea who’s installation it is: Jean Hiraga or Be Yamamura. Nevertheless, I think it very much worth to look into it.

Hi,Mr. Hiraga said (and it's also in the promo-flyer) that he uses modified GreatPlainsAudio coaxial, although the one in the speakers that were playing music looked more like original Altec 604 (because of the multicell horn). So, I guess it's not M...
This is one of my favorite topics.
I completly share this sentiment. There is clearly nothing nearly as important as the listening room itself and having the possibility of building a listening room from scratch is ...

Yes, all fine and good, but this notion was advanced by any number of people well before they heard it from Jean Hiraga (if they ever did). And like "inaudible distortion", it turned out that there's more to it than "even order distortion".Paul S...
The best sound at the Show (to my ears, again) was in Hiraga/Melody room.
Hello Vuki!To my ears this speaker has a very smooth-sounding compression driver that hasn´t deserved being combined with a 15" cone ...

I was also in Munich this year. Cessaro had one of the best sounding systems at the Show, but I thought I could hear some droning bass from BLH. Of course it could also be the room, but somehow I doubt it - I have heard few (some even made myself) BL...

Your audiophile buddies must be deaf stitch, the Cessaro room was easily the best at the show, although to be fair there wasn't much competition, Magico sounded as if the sound was being pushed into the speakers, YG wasn't bad, their sealed aluminiu...

Hi Roman, hi all... intriguing post and interesting questions, as I've been for about 20 years a triode and, before, a tube user and a glowing-in-the-dark maniac. My experience...I purchased - years ago - an Hiraga 20W which I used as a bass enclosure...

I had my visit in Munich yesterday and the Cessaro´s performance was totally different. Tonally without any compromize, so it was a pleasure to stay in the room this time :) Unfortunately very much on the muddy side. I think I start to understan...

Anybody who ever tried SS amp with compressions drivers or the drivers of high-sensitivity that can be driven by minimum current knows how it works. Nelson Pass created with his First Watt project a lot of publicity to the idea. A few watts, in p...

Thanks for your comments, Roman. You're someway right... Goto foolishness;-))) maybe... also Mingsu wrote he "never" saw such a (Keith's - or mine) way to use S-150 mid-low horn... everyone's - me too, also with some doubt - copycatting each othe...

Well, maybe a little cussing first to set the tone. The older SPU's are now well sought after, many will end up in collections at now over inflated prices probably in the Far-East where they are worshipped. I've heard a few older SPU's and even those...

Any Google hits this site gets from my post is a gift from me to The Home of the Cat. Can't imagine anybody searching "Silbatone & Penderecki"..a rather odd combination of terms stemming out of a unique event.
Or how about "Silbatone &...

Yo Romy, face it... you need a smiley menu on this joint. For this exchange, I could use the one with rolling eyes and the one where one smiley whips out a hammer and konks the other smiley on the head with it a few times.Your cat architecture p...

The funny and poor Tuyen. It looks like another audio guy, as Russians says, “went over the hands”. The “went over the hands” is a very interesting Russian idiom that use very frequently apply to audio people. Years back it was once very deservin...
I know you're not a big fan of digital delay, but I'm using behringer DCX 2496 to make things easier... this way I get to keep all horn mouths on the same plane which avoids some reflections (from other horn mouths).
My journeys with Melquiades made me to look at the problems wider: if to form a truly High-End objective, for amplification for instance, then does a “service” that can satisfy such an objective exists? Well, not really. Let look into this.

Hi Roman... the installation is a combined joint-venture between Endo-san of ALE (bespoke drivers and horns) and Be Yamamura's (45 W solid state Class A amps and digital software and hardware).
Jean Hiraga, like my...

I think this post need to have an epigrapher:
“We knew what we wanted to hear, and so we developped, and developped, and developped... In hundreds of small and bigger steps. Over thirty years. Till we were "there" where we always wanted ...
