Hunting like a cat
Fair enough, but I don’t know when I would have a base system so successful that I’ll have the opportunity to try an Injection Channel as a secondary wideband source or as a source of “oops” tone or color, so really my thinking is to attempt to understand the only specific context as yet described, Macondo. I have not heard Macondo, so I can only try to accept the proposition as described and to the park it as a possible solution or test for the future. I’m not sure how a super tweeter fits, maybe that was made in jest.

Back to the Super Tweeter
Regarding the super tweeter, it surprised me when it surprised Romy, when it turned out to be the fruit and the "keeper" after all his experiments with the 10" Red. Based on my own experience, I like to think I would take a win when one turns up, and Romy sure did.

Coaxial tweeter, Super?
Oh, yeah, I thought I had correctly compartmentalized the coax tweeter from the Red as a separate discussion from the Injection Channel, but it's been like a pebble in my shoe, and now I'm not sure that maybe you're right, that's the final result, and not the wideband portion, and I did miss the conclusion.

I don't want that to be the final result since it's a bit problematic to buy a Red just for a tweeter, and it's also not a nice form factor for integration, and I don't want to be a "cargo cultist" and just mine the forum for driver recommendations, but it's certainly a much more transferable conclusion. I mean, anyone can get one and try it for themselves and it's a pretty good experiment, versus attempting to replicate other theories in other systems and rooms.

The Role Played By That Tweeter
Sorry you missed that, Jamie, but it seems Hope Springs Eternal, in any event. While most people who use Vitavox S2s run them "all the way up", there have been a few who wanted "more" than they were getting at the top of the frequency range. In Romy's case, the vintage 10" Tannoy Red tweeter was pressed into service, used still nested in its disconnected-from-signal cone, replacing the "colorless" ribbon he used before. This perhaps sheds some light on my earlier posts regarding paper, CD/horns, 'stats, and ribbons for HF. Regarding resonance, you have probably run across Hans Kortenbach? There are plenty of places to visit where they are all about resonance, if you want to learn more about that, specifically.

Best regards,
Paul S
