ROWUK says "I get much enjoyment from the Norwegian Radio web radio. They have a wonderful mix of the music that I like which is orchestral and advanced chamber music. They broadcast at 192KB which is not super fidelity, but their choice of special performances makes it easy to get lost in the music instead of mad at the hardware:NRK Klassisk "

Apropos of that, I was pleasantly surprised at the audio quality at the BPO's digital concert hall.* You can access either a concert live or taped in their Archive section which has over a hundred performances. What was surprising was how much better balanced the website audio was compared to the average digital orchestral recording. Admittedly I have a decent headphone setup with tube amp and ESI soundcard, but it is aggravating that most CDs sound worse. This is coming from someone who plays records 90% of the time. The concert audio certainly has issues and sounds digital but I was impressed with the clarity and sectional balance.

* They do have a fee of 10 euros to listen for a week. I signed up just to listen to a rare performance of Ancient Voices of Children by George Crumb and not from any sonic expectations BTW. One annoyance was a few pauses from a streaming glitch.

Idagio.com streaming service.
Wify for a few months harasses me that I stop to spin my records and should switch to idagio.com. I can not believe that we allow women to vote!

Nevertheless a few days ago I went to Idagio from my DAW and was surprised with the amount of music, volume of catalog and with quality of lossless quality of streaming. I do not claim that Idagio delivers the same sound as I get out of my TL0 but it is very good for casual listening. It is $10 per month, not expensive but very convenient, might be more?

Is there a reason
Is there a repeatable reason why records in particular annoy her? does that include CDs or just vinyl? Not interested to wade into your domestic dispute but I was just curious about the specificness of it.

High Maintenance?
I'm saying, main reason people "don't like records" is that playing records requires too much fiddling around, and too much attention while fiddling. My wife hates it when I look over her shoulder, and she is not interested in "learning how to do it correctly", either. I didn't set out to have a system no one else can use without wrecking something; but that's where it's gotten. Mea Culpa.

Is this Paul S or Romy spoofing Paul S?
People these days don't do CDs or even digital downloads so annoyance with fiddling with anything has gone far beyond vinyl. I also can't believe that wivss or anyone else really now suddenly want to play vinyl except for the inconvenience. I can understand them not wanting a guy to have any hobby outside of themselves and their honeydo list. If you make it your paying job or a good source of income then they might be cool with it. No offense ladies!

True Happiness
The Key to True Happiness (and equanimity) being that music "plays by itself", with little or no attention required from anyone, and no chance for collateral damage to expensive/valued stuff.

Oh I see
Music is background noise so that people are not frightened by silence.
