Large Polystyrene Caps

Sine recently I got accidentally (though as I feel  that it is sp far justifiably) converted into an idiot-builder I kid of hunt for certain things… So, he it comes... I recently grabbed a run of large “never available” Electrocube 410 Polystyrene and Foil caps for use in my Super Melquíades project. I wonder if anyone makes over 400V Polystyrene and Foil  (with a good quality of Polystyrene!!!) with a nominal of 4-5uF in a single cap? I was not able to find any.

I think this guy actually had found a “reasonable” solution…

How about lead acid batteries :-)

Only half kidding - they would be cheaper than the caps and just think, you could finally ditch those AC power troubles away.
Also the amps would adore the super low impedance power supply... Still, what with that enormous current draw they'd have to be big.

Otherwise, afraid I can't help - I had a look for polystyrenes a while ago and came to the conclusion that the cost would be astronomical. Relcap used to do 3uF I think, but that was 200V or so.

I've had good results with oil filled motor-runs; the polystyrenes would certainly be feasible for the S2 amp where you don't need the huge capacitance.

OK, I did the experiments with my phenomenal, “hard to get”, polystyrene and foil Electrocube 410B large caps. They were very good but I still would like to stay with high quality polypropylene caps. The best polypropylene was just less Hi-Fi-ish, less anxious, with reacher and more complex sound. Based upon the RTX, 410B, GE, AC and some other polystyrene I sumized that there is not needs for me to pursue for the large size polystyrene and foil caps.
