The new Görlichs´ surrounds

Correction: Most of the current production Görlichs seem to have rubber surround, too. They are not so well-known among DIYers because prices have gone WAY up. There is no 8"er, so the ones I have listened to are old production.

The cloth-suspended Görlichs?
Oliver, I am little confused.

I was under impression that difference between original Görlichs and the most recent ATD was that ATD used titanium foil vs. Görlichs used aluminum. The two drivers that I had in past were 8” and 6” (perhaps not exactly as they were measure in centimeters). The drivers that I had were sold to me as the original Görlichs and they have rubber. I did not know that Görlichs made cloth suspension… I would be surprised as cloth would make the driver hardly useable for the way how Görlichs intend to use their drivers – as the direct radiators of 2-ways speakers. The cloth suspension would make them more like a driver for 3-4 ways speakers… Anyhow, I never knew that the cloth-suspended Görlichs ever existed

Haven't seen one either
I've never seen a cloth-suspended Görlich driver, either. I can't imagine any existing, except perhaps as a prototype or a one-off special.

ATD, cloth surround and other confusion
Hello!

I am very sure the old ones had cloth surround, because there has been some talk about treating dried out surrounds. Among the new ones there is only one with cloth surround. http://www.microprecision.de/6.html Here a link to the ATD remakes http://www.olimpiaudio.com/Prodotti/ATD/ATD.html As far as I know the studio monitors equiped with Görlich drivers were never two-way.
BTW:
In an older factory visit (6moons?) at Magico I saw some speakers (probably custom) with either one or the other, so they probably know they are better than the vaporized titanium drivers. But they also know few of their custumers would accept the look of the Görlichs.

How many drivers a person need?

Oliver,

Yes, in the first links that you sent it is clearly visible a fabric suspension – very interesting. Who is that guys? Are his drivers commercially available? Well, I asked and then I made a pose for myself. Well, a hard-suspended and fabric-suspended Görlichs would be a very interesting driver to try but… do I need it. I mean, it might be a very good driver but what use I have from it? I am kind of all set with speakers and even if those fabric-suspended drivers are available then would I buy them? Well, I have a storage filed with many exotic drivers that experimented and deseeded that they have a potential. I have so many of them that sometimes I go to my storage and discover a driver that I do not even remember I had. I perfectly understand that with Macondo I would never use any “saved for future” drivers but still when I come across to an interesting driver would then some idiotic forces with me made me to buy them. I was asking about the fabric-suspended Görlichs BUT I was wondering: do I really need it? Women buying their 4345534th pair of shoes that they never were perhaps feel the same way but I am not a compulsive shoe-shopping woman but a man that (I hope!) has more rational in my head. So, I think I would pass to learn more about the fabric-suspended Görlichs. I do admit that it might be very interesting driver but… I would live to other the opportunity to discover this direction further. I just see not need of it for myself…

Görlich again
Hello Romy!

The guy you can see in the picture is Mr. Görlich himself. There had been some awards for old Görlich speakers in the CAR sector, and so Mr. Görlich was "exhumated" by a car audio guy. The drivers have rubber surround now, have 4 Ohm and cost about twice as much. The car people seem to be prepared to pay more than the home DIYers.
Here is a picture of an old Görlich driver. The surround looks like ruber because it is not folded, but is textile:
