This might be very much an interesting consent. The State Symphony of Russia use to be the main state sponsored symphony orchestra.  They were good, in orthodox way good – it use to be Svetlanov’s orchestra. I have no idea how they are nowadays. Mark Gorenstein in his was able to throw some orchestral fireworks (and I have some of those recordings) I have no idea what he is up to nowadays. Denis Matsuev is more controversial figure but it should be OK. I generally very much like when orchestras go on tours and I usually attends all “alien” orchestras in Boston. I would love in face each week experience a different orchestra…

Well, that orchestra is higher level then usually visits the middle of Massachusetts : -)  Still, regardless who they are it always faun to hear orchestra on tours. It is lottery and it might be anything but sometimes a tour performance might but such a pearl that it might be a life-time experience. I hour case the Worcester concert is the very last concert in the US tour and who know, they might throw some “interesting” play.

BTW, if you are interring about the orchestra then you might get some of their recoding lead by Evgeny Svetlanov.

Some of his recordings were good, particularly the Russian repertoire and particularly from 60s. BTW, up to now I never heard anybody play Glinka and wild as Svetlanov did.

Mark Gorenstein is a very interesting fruit. Find his recording from 90s where he led the kinds from State Young Symphony Orchestra – you will love what he was trying to do.

The rumors turned out to be true and Worcester’s Mechanics Hall is a phenomenal concept hall. In fact I am so much pleased with the sound of that concept hall that I will be visiting it again when your local Worcester orchestra will have program that attract me. BTW, I feel that one of the reason why the hall sounds so great is because it never was built to be an avenue for music and the idiots acoustical engenders did not used their “skills” in the hall’s design…

BTW, the Verdi Requiem on April 27 sounds interesting. How good your local orchestra?
