The Latour is a two way design with a compression horn driver and a 15" stiff paper, short throw woofer.

More technical data :

Designed around the Altec 288 driver and Altec 515B woofer, the new Latour, standing for "London western type", has a custom designed and optimized crossover network. Overall frequency response is rated from 30Hz to 20kHz with a single-ended triode friendly nominal Impedance of 16 ohms. Power handling is 30 watts maximum that can easily achieve high acoustic output levels due to the 100dB/W/m sensitivity. Overall dimensions are 700 x 1,200 x 460 (WxHxD in mm). Overall weight is a very substantial 68Kg. The Latour can also be produced with the Altec 415 or 416 drivers.

So are the drivers just reworked altec componets with fieldcoils installed? Or are the drivers based on the 288 and 515B design? And you are correct some may not understand this type of workmanship. Can you post a picture of the front of the horn? I am interested in the horn type he used. thanks

In a way it is boring
What's there to speculate about ?? Speakers are rare  and expensive and the principle is old JBL altec 19 solution. It is 100dB efficient probably from 80hz up .Whats the purpose of your post ??Did you hear them or looking for encouragement to buy?
Regards, W

Judas,

I patiently wait until you realize that this site is not compatible with audio idiocy. I told you before that you are exactly the person who is a demonstrable illustration of what Audio Cretinism is all about. People like you run from site to site, from a reviewer to a reviewer, develop in own feeble audio-brain the new idiotic audio-buy ideas-fix and for a next 2-3 months they enslave themselves to a serve the new “messianic audio BS buy”. It would be fine if it was all that you do but the Morons like you each time build around a new “messianic audio-buy” a “collation of supporters” the similar to yourself cronies who would do anything  juts to be welcomed to the crowd of the ideas-fix supporter who pray to new-wrapped for them audio BS. BTW, it has nothing to do with Shindo speakers but it is my reaction to you again posting at my site.

Samuel, I am protecting my site from any kind of idiots. You have posted here before under the user ID samuel33:

http://www.goodsoundclub.com/Search.aspx?UserID=408&From=1/1/2004&To=3/29/2008&Phrase=&PerPage=30

It was during the period when Jonathan Valin raped you idiots at his forum with his invention of Magiaco Mini. How Valin moved forward inventing for his cretins a new BS and you feel crisis and feel the needs to feed your idiocy with a new “messianic audio-buy”… Good luck to you in your journey. Your audio predictably is not the subject that I would worry or express any interest and assist you with. I have no interest to read your idiotic posts; there are other places where you will be accepted like Napoleon Bonaparte, here I you are just an accidental Moron who has no business to read, not to mention to post at my site. If you register at this site again you will not be able to access/read it.

My apologies to apologies to anyone for this post but I have the reputation and the value of the site to protect. Since it is not the first time I am not giving you a chance to reply and I am deactivating your Judas account.

Once again it has nothing to do with Shindo Latour loudspeaker.
