A Netherlands company that makes loudspeaker of the color of lesbian solidarity announced their flagman model: Euphrosyne.

It is 101dB d'Appolito configured ported Altec 414 supplemented with a 20” horn armed with Altec compression driver + Fostec T90A tweeter. This is actuality very nice economical configuration that work reasonably OK if you do not want to spill blood and do not intend to go for “more”. They clime:
“Cutoff frequency is 500Hz. The compression driver is modified to go down this deep and up to 20kHz with very much linearity. A Fostec T90A supertweeter will be added filtered from 20kHz to add some space and speed in the uppermost regions. All drivers have Alnico magnets. The speaker will use an active crossover…. This system also is very suitable for large listening rooms “
It does sound a lilt bogus. The Alnico Altec cones are available aluminum, titanium, and symbolic. The only first can sound more or less acceptable above 8K, hardly able to handle 500Hz, particularly with active crossover and particulary in particularly large listening rooms… Was it “modified”? Hmmmm, I have my doubts, everyone LOVE to claim it but in reality it never have seen any credible claim as no one stated publicly (among the claimers) what was wrong with default Altec compression drivers.
Anyhow, with all my suspicions I am welcome to a new horn-minded company that had guts to put a tweeter in time-aligned (?) position. Do not tell me that they will see it for more than $11K… The caT
