Hi thereI've heard them a few times driven by Audio Research power plant amp and their best tube CD player. My friendly dealer explained to me principles of Vandersteen design. Small woofer (because big one isn't fast enough ??) with its own plate am...
……It does not sound like a typical first order speaker….
I have no idea how a “typical first order speaker” should sound. The Vandersteen insisting of using first order is a very good thing. I am a very stron...

the Vandersteen 7 remains the most satisfying cone speakers in mybook for the past few years.  It does not sound like a typical first order speaker.  Richard got it right somehow and no its not the 11band bass eq that does the tricks....

Thanks for posting the Vandersteen interview. It inspired me to try once more to tame my TAD 1601sthat reside in sealed 3cuft boxes. It worked, but the numbersare slightly shocking. 12mH translates to 100Hz, and 25 uFon 4 Ohm Altec 290’s in 260 Hz hor...

Another hobby that I'm involved with is saltwater aquariums. People used to enter the hobby as children when they would get their first 10 gallon aquarium as gift or hand me down. Now kids would rather play video games then actually mess with a hobby...

I should begin by mentioning that I actually liked Vandersteen's original 2C, within its limits, driven by a nice soft pp amp, like the CJ MV50.  But to me V's designs got/get worse with every "improvement", right up to and including the la...

As you can imagine, the ML2s simply surprised me.  I thought only of optimizing my speakers, what might drive them to their best, to see what they could do with fewer amp-induced limitations.  And the ML2s have done much of what I want...

I have been working on my system. I post sparse as I need to listen a lot before doing any changes or decide on anything.I have changed the 1000hz JMLC horn to a 1400hz JMLC horn and the results are better. I have better integration with the Fostex t...
