Hi Herman.Did you hear the Scanspeak woofers like the 8565 or 8555 as a comparison? If you have, what do you think?Rgds.Erik
I did not hear those woofers....

Another thing to consider here is a specific reason or reasons to use the "PR Type" Scanspeaks as subs, since Romy says outright that the Dannoy's PR cones have "no ouput", but the (rather amemic) LF from the Dannoy'ed Tannoy is all there is from the...

Hi,Thanks for pictures, that looks interesting. You are using one driver per side for your system it looks like?R Weissman ...

I would not advise to use my
Scanspeak woofers all the way to 150Hz. For sure you can but I feel that
they are fine in sub 100Hz. The upper bass need to have more HF resonance and
the Scanspeak rubber surround is not best for it. For sure it is no...
With little time I have now, I tried Rel T9x woofer with Dannoys to see if I get anything I want. Not. I tried one T9x, summing both channels, positioned centrally between the Dannoys and fed from the B2 outputs. It produced a typ...

Howdy all,I have been playing with the Dunnoy concept since Romy discovered it and I agree that it is a very good improvement for Tannoy bass.Dunnoy with reverb injection is a phenomenal experience. I have gold drivers not red but I tried both 10s an...
Lets just say that TH bass is much cleaner and generates a different "bass sensation" in the room. Once you get used to it, it is very difficult to go back to boxed bass.I find the sound similar to what a Mid bass horn woud pla...
I am not sure what drives you: a desire to but a speaker of a desire to initiate a new group buy for ScanSpeak drivers. Knowing you I am pretty sure that if I do not put a stupid smiley face in the end of the last sentance ...

Paul, I'm only learning here but if I understand correctly, a passive Scanspeak will not effectively lower the Fs of the active Scanspeak/s, as the notch is at the Fs of the passive radiator, irrespective of what the active radiator/s is/are. ...
I’m still in the world of direct radiators and I’m looking for the ultimate midbass channel solution. At this time it’s still impossible to build a horn of this size so my purpose is to find the next most good sounding soluti...

I bought those enclosures from a local old timer who had made them with alot of care. they are heavy! They had a single goodmans driver where you see the Scanspeak now. I swaped it out and installed the Scanspeak and tried different drivers on top. T...

My comments are rather discouraging arn't they! Not my intention but hopefully helpful in the long run. Regarding time alignment i just wanted to raise the point i think it might be more relevant than initially anticipated by someone considering buil...

Wow, Bill, that sounds like a lifetime of work - and no rest - to me! Hats off again if you can listen for more than 2 sessions in a row without glitches! It has been over 20 years since I gave a thought to combining sight and sound systems. But how ...

I recently had a visit by a close friend, who is an accomplished modern jazz saxophonist but a recording/mixing engineer, running his own small studio. We listened to some bass-heavy material on my Dannoys, the bass was acoustic - piano and drums. Da...

If you want more bass, add it with reverb injection. You can have all the bass you want and you will not disturb Dannoy's beauty.I'm curious, have you ever integrated ULF to a system with a sealed bottom end and one with a ported bottom end and notic...

You used the 15”
red with my 10” driver, right? It would be interesting to try then
to find a 15” driver similar to 10" canSpeak, I wonder if they
do something in 15”, they do have the same in 8” and have those divers.
I am not familiar with pass...

Are you using the ScanSpeak pair of the original Dunlavy tower for the midbass or something else? Can you pls give the outer dimensions of the towers to have some image? ...

...is that Dannoy were conceived and built in that upper box: pull out one Scanspeak 10" and put in the Tannoy 10". The remainder of the Dunlavy tower is redundant....
|
I have always felt that if I went for a vertical array of 10" drivers, I would keep the drivers closer spaced than you do in your 'Dunlavy' made enclosure. Based on the 110" height of the tower, I see that you would be doing this...

These are Romy's original boxes and scanspeak used as passive radiator. I have purchased 10 inch tannoy reds with their crossovers to replace Romy's which I have given back to him. My Trinnov is doing a 24 dB Linkowitz Reilly crossover at 80 Hz. To m...

Last week found that the distortion I was having was due to some small separations of the woofer cone from the surround suspension probably from age and playing too loud. Applied the glue to them received from English tannoy dealer and distortion...

and the discernment to hear the result.Thinking about it more, there are 5 coupled dampening mechanisms in effect, 6 if you add the variable resistor.1. mechanical - the surround and spider create a mechanical spring2. acoustical - the air in the box...
