Brian,Microphone diaphrams, headphone diaphrams ,dome tweeters, all have to have the pattern applied with a technical pen i.e. Kohinoor or Mars. These are becomming a little difficult to find in all towns. A 50% mixture of Poly S and water should be ...

Paul,They might. If they are radial rings, straight out from center to outer edge then no effect. If they are a spiral then maybe a small effect that will cause you to coat the cone in the Microscale product with 3 or 4 coats. For circumferentia...

[quote user="Paul S"]OK, Romy, that EnABL stuff got my attention!I can't recall all of the bad ideas borne of good research, but this EnABL thing sounds a little fishy, and certainly it sounds too good to be true, as existing in a simple and really u...

Gentlemen,
I suppose it is time to defend my sterling reputation here. The EnABL process does in deed work across the full frequency band. Works on all driver types and permits the very qualities that Romy seems to appreciate in the treated Linneum ...

Hi all.I am just supplying a couple of threads that are dealing with application and the theory behind the EnABL process I provide information on here last year. Romy, you should not go there, it will make you crazy and you will have to insult someon...

Hello Romy,While you are in test mode, have you played with bath towels around the horn mouth? There's a long thread here by Jack Bouska; you may or may not agree with the content, but interesting how towels make hifi news sound better (if not more t...

I corrected a mistake in amps construction but the thing I cannot explain is that after I picked up the drivers from Retsel they were much mellower /smoother sounding .Did hummidity change or they finally "broked -in" I don't know. Report...

Romy,In the diyaudio thread on EnABL I cover the Hemp acoustics FR 4.5 C and the Lowther A45. Both drivers in your size range.Since EnABL does not measurably alter any compression wave characterisitcs of the piaton mode tests, except for phase shift ...

I am playing nowadays with Bud’s EnABLing ideas. http://www.romythecat.com/PDF/EnABL%20White%20Paper.pdf Look also for the posts in the linked threads.

I tried the driver and generally I do like it’s sound a lot. It more sophisticated then Linaeum, it is more noble tonally and alike the Linaeum is seamlessly melts with Vitavox S2. In fact I am developing recently a theorem according to which a compr...

Bud,Thanks for pitching the A45a and FR4.5, I never dealt with both of them and will consider them, though it is slightly disconcerting that all those drivers meant to be wide bandwidth and therefore have too much HF in them. Still, my initial candid...

OK,I split the thread to let the Bud’s subject to run the show. Here is the Bud’s Papers. Rgs, Romy ...

but it may be worthwhile for you since you're using OB's .I only heard very approximate version on Zilla baffles (Retsel) and I'll take horns with their coloration . I just was wrong assessing ENabl process . You can hear it for yourself and decide i...

Well, what I am trying to do it to smear or to defuse the virtual edge of the horn. It is not exactly the same what Bud does with him application of patterns on the cone driver but it very much similar. Toward to this end any random pattern that woul...

Your explanations make it fairly easy to understand both the problem and conceptual solution in your terms. It's the actual, mechanical solution that I have trouble with.Unless you can somehow alter/vary the application index&nbs...

Romy,All measured tests for unsmoothed frequency response actually show that the violent peaks and valleys in frequency response, that driver mfg's usually will not show you, are just accentuated by EnABL. A friend of mine, one Gary Pimm, pointed out...

Paul I have to admit being wrong about "BUdification" (enabl doted Lowther) process . I don't have explanation besides lenghty "brake -in " time but I would not bet on that. It may be a show stopper for you but I also admit liking them better in fron...

Bud, you sure make a case for your process, all right. And the problems I have noted grew through the hot afternoon, eg, the power was certainly AFU.Of course I am curious, and your very intelligent discourse about hypnotizes me.At this po...

I think you should investigate a transmission line subterranean woofer system. One tuned for 8 Hz and turned off at 28 Hz. That way you could use your beloved lite weight drivers where they are most useful and a super woofer with XBL magnet structure...

Well, I still do not know what the tweeter solution would be. I know exactly what I want to get: to soften the S2 driver and get HF extension but without introducing HF noise. I know exactly how it should sound I juts do not know at this point how it...

Romy, Not sure I can add much more.... you'll find out yourself of course. Overall, I can not comment on the "enabl" treatment beyond what, Dave, Chris and Bud have said (Dave and Chris are the Planet10 guys). I think I would have tried th...

Wojtek, I am indeed hemmed in by the fricking electricity these days, to the extent that it is about impossible to hold on to a baseline for reference. And the Lowthers only make the problem more apparent.Yes, I still wonder about how I wo...

[quote user="jessie.dazzle"] Buy or make a good non-magnetic flat-blade screwdriver (I made one from a solid stainless steel rod... use a "hollow grinding" technique and make sure the tip is a nice fit... not all "stainless steel" is non-magnetic)......
