I think they could could make the sound more pleasant with an overkill of second harmonic distortion. But for people who prefer that kind of sound a relax-horn like Anima would be better anyway. No real solution. Maybe they should try the Radian alum...

Why dont you use your midrange horn with the JBL from 600hz to 4800hz? I think it would have a fairly flat and good response and tt wont be beaming. It works with the tractrix 1000, I have done it before. I then tried my Radian 475be with JMLC1400 fr...

I tend to like drivers with plastic suspension. Radian makes retrofit diaphragms for JBL with plastic suspension, maybe they will help you achieve the tone you are looking for.
