Why GOTO do not care about time-alignment.
fiogf49gjkf0d

The people who have brain, ears and common since were always wondering why Goto-company always discarded time-alignment even as a subject.  I personally always thought that it was just ignorance on the side of the Goto-company and the Goto-users but now I see that I was mistaken. The resent discovery of our audio-archeological expedition to Museum of Contemporary Asia revealed the historical rational of the phenomena.

I truth is that the original Goto drivers were not designed for “home use” as contemporary sales-people proclaim. In the end of 40s Goto family lived in Asian jangles and was running a very successful business of hunting, breading and selling of a rare type of Thailand monkeys. That uncommon and very expensive breed of monkeys – the audiocercopithecidae - had unique behavioral pattern: when they heard specific harmonics of sound then they got paralyzed. The Goto family used this, paralyzing the monkeys, collecting them and then selling them around the word to zoos, to the world renowned musicians as pets.

The parents Goto family experimented a lot with different sound sources and eventually found that making the sound sources highly mobile they can cover larger space of jangle and to paralyze more monkeys. All 6 children of Mr. Goto-senior remember the time what the whole family were running across jangles, creating the huge noise and picking up the “hypnotized” monkeys from the trees.  Even today the young members of the Goto family with respect look at the pictures of their grand-grand -father on his very first GotoMobile

GotoMobile.jpg

It is a lot of years pasted from those times. The audiocercopithecidae monkeys now are completely instinct. The last of them were seen in 70s, when they actively were domesticated.  Many of them learned human skills and become not distinguishable from human. Quite a few of them emigrated in US where there were very actively employed as “experts” for audio publications.

Before that time the Goto’s family business was virtually dead. The family made some money by renting to Hollywood their GotoMobiles-bicycles during the shooting of the “Return to Paradise”.  They removed from the hunting bicycles the “sound devises” were dusting in storage for a long time until someone told: how about to sell THAT. So, the Hi-Fi Goto Company was born and the “fame” of Goto drivers derives right from there. From here is it very easy to see why Goto had never any respect to time aliment.  “We still consider yourself as people who have inner-calls to the monkey hunting” – told us the today Mr.Goto-san-junior, the company chef-operational officer. “We do not see any rational for time-alignment. We remember as 9 GotoMobiles were running across the jangles and we did not detect that a special positioning in space of each GotoMobile was able to create better impact for the ceremony of the monkey hypnotization. So, we recognize the time-alignment are the fantasies of the people who never saw the real jangles.” – Mr. Goto-san-junior concluded.

The missing pictures... a tale
fiogf49gjkf0d
... this is the mid-low horn showed mounted on the bike... missing from this pix - because time-aligned and well in phase, but out of sight - were other bikes like this driven by the sons and daughter of Goto the Elder... mid-high and high bike/driver/horns combos were only few meters back, while the BassBike about twenty meters back, near the rice-field... all in a row at some distance from each other.

The Goto horn-family members were once touring villages with cheap tube amps and a Bolex' cine-projector showing "Gone with the Wind" to villageers who enjoyed a great, phase and time-coherent sound.

Then, one day... they had a chance to buy an old, little cinema in a small town: they unfortunately sold the bikes and settled their drivers and horns behind the screen...

... so it began the "piled horns speakers" era...

From the history of speaker’s time alignment.

Stefano, it is funny that you have mentioned the “an old, little cinema in a small town”. I do not know if you did it unintentionally or you meant as some kind of sarcastic self-deprecated joke. What I mean is that the initial industry demands for rudimental time-alignment come from old "cinema houses".  Up to the mid of the 20s the films did not have synchronized recorded sound. In the mid-end of the 20s the first Vitaphone, Movietone  and Photophone system show up and sound synchronized become available. The most advanced sound installations in cinema houses at that time had 2-way acoustic systems and the cinematographers’ recognized that when they presented once in a film tap dancing  then without  time-alignment of the channels they do not have visual and auditable synchronized between the actions and sound.

Our historical knowledge progresses with time lines, it is the way it goes, in history.

These names, you say, Vitaphone, Movietone  and Photophone are people chosen names, that have formed our NOW, and need to be HONOURED, not ridiculed, they paved our Paths, so forth, ALL OF THIS HISTORY IS OUR GRANDPARENTS, OUR FOREFATHERS, FATHERS. OUR MOTHERS, OUR HISTORY,

Is this ridiculing our history, Romy?

What matters, technology or people?

I like people, and understand we must advance tech, regards, j.

It was the VERY last time I asked you.

Mjloudspeaker,

You have made in past numerous statements informing that you have intent to continue your live without posting at this site. I felt it was very positive news as I routinely do not read your posts. I am still waiting when you made a decision that my site is not worth of your “brilliance”. In meanwhile, if you are willing to READ this site (and I asked you multiple time before), can you exercise an elemental self-discipline and do not flood my site with your “army wisdom”?  It was the VERY last time I asked you.

Dear Roman... I apologize for the "honey" I'll be using right now, BUT - sincerely - I love too much reading yr. posts to be "sarcastic"... I try - don't know if successfully or not - to use some wittiness, to suggest, push some discussion topic I'd love to see enlarged, broadened...

Back to the post... it's an interesting reading trying to figure out the "how" and "why" the actual listenings in our homes is like we know...

From the old catalogs of the WE, RCA and Altec companies, owners of the brand-names and copyrights sure give us an historic background, a view to a shiny, adventurous past so full of errors and inspired findings, where Wente, Thurat, Olson, Jim Lansing and others built from scratch a new science: audio.
