Global, perhaps you are being modest, or maybe even a little disingenuous. But if you are being serious, then I worry that you may not be ready to do this on your own yet.
In the first place, what makes you think Melquiades is "better than a Lamm", and why at this point should this matter to you? More importantly, what about the Lamm gives you trouble in your system? You haven't said.
Also in the first place, you do realize that this is not a Heath Kit you're shopping here? IMO you will be miserable with the project/results unless you have a "critical understanding" of the rote principles and tasks involved, not to mention the critical need for clear "targeted objectives" necessary to bring such a project to full fruition.
Meanwhile, for all my apparent whining about the Lamm, it is not only a pre-built (and very well built!), fully-realized "product", but it really is pretty much plug-and-play, and it really is "good enough" for the VAST majority of HE speaker users. Unless you have had ML2s in your system for a while and found good reason or reasons to move on, you might want to re-think the relative worth/value of these two options.
Best rgards,
