Talking in my previous posts about the major inversion in high-end audio:

… and observing that lately small high-end (as they claim) companies are breeding like the mushrooms after rain I was wonder if the situation mile lead to so much needed multi-polarization of high-end audio.
Yesterday the high-end companies were sources of the supply; whatever they did was declared by marking machine and therefore recognized by Morons as “high-end. If we talk about electronics then Krell, Conrad Johnson, Cary , Mcintosh, Bryston, Pass, Rowlan, Levinson, Audio Research, BAT and a couple of dozens of other brands pretty much exhaust the arsenal of available supplies. The custom solution always was there but they have too negligible market share to be profitable for the manufactures who do audio full time and who pay mortgage by audio sale.
Today, the globalization economy and easy internals access made hundreds of small high-end (as they claim) audio companies to show up here and there around the world. That offers a wide offer of supplies and very much spread the pole of manufactures. I do not think that in this environment each of the new small manufactures make a lot of money and has a huge sale BUT I think that the satiation is very lucrative to open a doer for a new opportunity: to make treuley custom or “tailored” audio to operate at the level of mass production.
I think we will see soon or later that companies would offer a line of the products or services that will be severely customizable and and it will be the punch line of companies’ sale. I am not talking about the BS customatization like “we make crappy speakers with digital EQ and you correct them for your room” but I am talking about a very low level of true customatization where the variable requirements will be loaded into the original design.
I think this time will come very soon.
