In my audiophile past with poor resolution speakers (Spendor BC1) I used to listen to puristic recordings like Telarc with compressor to get the late reflections on audible levels. I felt that distorted imaging is better than no imaging. I loved eastern European recordings because of their far less damped concert halls.
