I said I'm a moron ;-).

I am not very pleased that many people who only know me via Web chronically misused a word Moron. I very easy grant the “Moronity Status” to many people in audio but I do it not only because I exercise my “presumption of Moronity” in audio but also becose very many SPECIFIC INDIVIDUALS that I’ve met in audio do fit MY definition of Moronity.

I do not recognize Moronity as a state of subnormal intelligence or as state of ignorance.  An ignorance and Moronity are very different animals. Ignorance is not being familiar with something, nothing wrong with that. However, a Moronity is s state when a person not being familiar with something DESPITE that the person is in a position that he must be familiar.

The society does consider a doctor who intends to cut out appendix but has no idea where it located as a menacing criminal. However, the same society when they see an audio industry professional reviewer who declares that “a better power cord substantially improve bass reproduction of a passive preamplifier” or when an editor of audio magazine states:  “balanced circuitries exists to improve stereos between right and left channel” do consider thier expertise as “appropriate”.  I brought up the simple illustrations (BTW, both of them are not my fantasies but the real events), however if one applies more understanding to the audio subjects and dig a deeply then it would be obviously that a huge amount audio “knowledge” would turn out to be a BS or just not being relevant to Real Audio.  Also, and this is important: that dominating irrelevant BS expressed by people who put themselves in a position of pubic opinion shaping. I call those people who try to impose faulty reference points while being very clueless on a subject: the Morons.

One of the best examples of Moronism was publicly and authoritatively expressed 2 years ago by a famous retarded reviewer of “The Listener Magazine” Rob Doorack. He publicly suggested that my last name (Bessnow) translates in Russian as “idiot”. (For whoever does not speak Russian I would inform that not my name but the name of that this reviewer-idiot do has a very specific translation in Russian- "fool"). I have no idea what business he has to make such a statement - very similar to any other word this trash says about audio: just a bunch of irrelevant BS spiced with a high level of self-importantcy and authority. Dose that Moron even ask himself “why?”

Anyhow, the point of all of it is following: Audio infested with a huge amount of completely accidental people who despite that they “do” audio in fact they do nothing else besides exercising this own limitations by means of loudspeaker and cable elevators. Those Morons do have voices and when they raise them I call the sound of their voices: the Moronism. Furthermore: each and single time when I use a label “Moron” I personally do have a VERY SPECIFIC RATIONALE why I consider a label Moron is suitable in given specific case and I do have a spesific COUNTERARGUMENT to the bogus statement that a given Moron have expressed.

Once again: it has nothing to do with somebody do not know something but only with somebody use own illicit lack of understanding as a self-propulsion or as a marketing tool. An ignorant person is a person who does not know something yet. An ignorant person who put itself in a position to pontification is a Moron. A Moron who humiliates others because he wiling to preserve his own status-quo is a freaking idiot… or more politically correctly speaking: an Audio Industry Professional.
