I wonder how many concerts one has to attend in order to catch a good one.
About the loud passages: it might not be the ego of the pianists. It is very hard to play loud passages of big chords effortlessly,without resistance. Too much effort made the sound stuffed, to fix this, they use even more effort, and it becomes a vicious cycle. The left hand usually is less good than the right one. I doubt that her lower octaves would sound dramatically different on a Steinway from a Yamaha.Rerurn to Romy the Cat's Site
