Good to hear (for the first time...) that the laser's performance can be assessed and recalibrated! Heretofore I thought the only option for a sickly laser was a new laser. Meanwhile, I resist the urge to "poke around" inside my gear unless and until I have to fix something or "buy another one". I put that in quotes because, whereas I wish I could simply replace components, it has been my personal experience that "replacing components" with "the same" vintage item is a crapshoot, not to mention that much of my gear is modified, in the first place.
Best regards,
