Post Subject: Finally replacing original battery...Posted by Paul S on: 8/17/2020
The original Odyssey PC625 battery I used for my DAC finally crapped out, a couple of months ago. This means it worked when I wanted it to for 12 1/2 years. Not bad, I think, and this even though it mostly just sat there, doing nothing, since I usually listen to LPs. I just "found out" that this battery is actually a dry cell type. Certainly no SLA battery I ever had lasted me 12 1/2 years, and "just sitting there" is a death sentence for SLA batteries. I recommend this battery for DACs (given appropriate power supply option, of course). Again, I selected the DAC I got with battery power in mind, and YMMV, of course. If your DAC runs off a wall wart or wall wart size internal PS, you're probably good to go to battery.
