I also have a pair of stevens early woofers that have 35hz low res that would be perfect for a single driver horn, these have hugh alnico magnets larger then the altec very good qaulity. Msaudio, I plan to get my 40Hz to 35Hz when I load my 40Hz driver to reactance.  However, why do you feel that 8” is industry norm? Who said that it might be any norm in this subject? Who said that 515b would be preferable?  They with this 24-28Hz of Fs will be absolutely the worst for this project – it is exactly how Midwest white trashes build horns – overloading them with LF. Thank you for offer me another drivers but I feel that you use wrong rational to do it. Your predictions of  “3Hz below” are wrong and based on lack of experience and your desire to be ignorantly-critical.
