Yes, first things first; playback should not be compromised for "features" (and I am the classic hair shirt guy). Here, I'm thinking that there's no need to spend this sort of money on a phonostage to get one that's good enough, and once we are spending more, why not add some useful features? It's not so much that I "miss" multiple curves, and I am not at all interested in converting records to digital (???), rather I happen to own plenty of records that would benefit from this treatment, just in terms of raising the quality of the playback as I listened. Just because one or two companies that offer multiple curves do not make it simple does not mean it needs to be difficult. This, IMO, is where extra money should go.

I can't stand to re-read the "review" right now to be sure, but do I remember that the thing does not even have a mono switch?  Maybe Patricia Barber only comes in stereo...
