I juts was pointed out today that PS audio has some interesting ideas out.
The transport:

Interesting but it is not R2R multibit but delta-sigma multibit. It still will have full-range noise after DAC and require a relatively sharp filter. What I would like to see a properly made pure Successive Approximation Register multibit with option do not use any filters or let say a first order filter.
Also, the PS Audio Transport and DAC shall be in one enclosure with an ability of transport to burn DVDs with .W64 files.
I have no idea how the thing sound.
