Checking if you playback can discriminate absolute polarity is very simple and very effective way to find out if you acoustic system is not fundamentally faulty. Flip the polarity and monitor the result. If you did not experience dramatic changes at the very HF, lower and upper bass and quite significant change in transient response than you acoustic system should not be placed in a home of a music listener but rather in the home of Moron-audio-reviewers. Fortunately for our test the very same things that kill sensitively of your systems to absolute polarity (high order filters, improper positioning, imperfect time alignment and etc..) kill everything else in music reproduction. So do it and make your conclusions.
