A couple of days ago, I did a very interesting experiment that I had been planning to conduct all my life. I have a local audio guy. I have known him for years, and he has known me for years. I played him a specific piece of music a number of times, and he loved it.
Then I wrote a 40-page piece of literature about the work—32 minutes of listening—and I let him listen to it. After that, I let him listen to the musical work again in the context of the full book.
I sincerely feel that I got the best reaction to a listening experience I have ever had. The guy was clapping his hands, screaming, and expressing practically everything a person can express during an experience like this. It was really, really serious.
It was very pleasurable to me, and it opened a Pandora’s box of further thinking.
