fiogf49gjkf0d It is Christmas Eve and it is a somber day. A few hours ago, after a short battle with cancer, my Koshka passed away, she was 22 years and 24 days old.
We were together since she was 6 days old and she was truly a joy of my life. She hated absolutely everything and everyone, including me, and I loved each second of it. I learned from her a lot and in many ways what I am I greatly am responsible to her. She picked for me women, she taught me how to love and hate, she stimulated, comforted and inspired me. She was my angel for 22 years and she went away when she felt that I am in good hands and that I can be on my own.
Now the new life, the version 3.0, the life without Koshka is unfolding. It is a wonderful life promised to be but it always will be a special spot in my heart for the fuzzy magnificent creature. Sleep peacefully, my little wonderful meowing goddess…

fiogf49gjkf0d ... will never be the same. Being together for 22 years+ and enjoying ever single day will live forever in your heart. I am sad to read that and I wish the best for you.

fiogf49gjkf0d Hi Romy, I kind of suspected that Koshka's time might be running out. As someone who has also mourned a cat or two, I'm glad you do not have to grieve alone. It is certainly a bittersweet coincidence that she departed on Christmas Eve; it makes me think of Dickens and the Coventry Carol (basically a dirge for Herod the Great's child victims).
Speaking of Olde English overtones, here's a link to a famous cat poem by a mad English poet, Christopher Smart:
http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/poem/2009/10/in_nomine_patris_et_felis.html
I hope it brings some comfort. Best wishes, JJ

She Is Gone - David Harkins -
You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back or you can open your eyes and see all she has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she's gone or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

fiogf49gjkf0d As Koshka was gone I was filling that I can’t live without Cats. Yesterday, the December 31 Amy got home with two five-week old, gray, blue-eyes kitten. They are brother and sister and they become our family. We put them in the warm room, feed them, played with them and at 7PM we took off to the “Top of the Hub” to celebrate the New Year night. At approximately 10 PM, being in probably the most chic restaurant in Boston, we looked at each other and realized that we want to be home with our kittens. So, we went home. I guess we do feel like parents. I proposed to name the kittens Koshka 1 and Koshka 2 but Amy disagreed and called them Master and Margarita.
