Harry Pearson started a few months back his own site and posted a few days back a curios post:

http://www.hpsoundings.com/2013/04/why-i-quit-the-absolute-sound/

With all universal appreciation and understanding the health situation we was involved and respecting his perspective about audio after the events, I have to admit that the position he is taken is very mach what he has been doing for last 20 years – to pimp audio industry for new “equipment”. Harry Pearson drummed up many companies and many products, it was done “professionally” with necessary graze of   showy “spirituality” and reasoning but under the bottom of any Mr. Pearson thinking always was how to make new equipment more sealable. So, all his today complain about TAS and what is has become is just a very logical outcome of what Harry Pearson has been doing for years. I do not know what TAS has become – I do not read audio periodics for 6 years but I very much can predict what agenda they have and what the new Pearsons are doodling in there.

Harry Pearson with his “new” site and his “new” objective is not really anything new. It is just an old guy who was fucking up the industry for year and run it to the ground and now is bitching about the sad state of the industry and   looking for a fake cathartic perspective. Sorry, I have no sympathy, besides the sympathy on human level.  New generation of audio maker is growing up, new dozens of people soldering their audio for sale in basements need somebody to tell to their perspective customers that they exist. Harry Pearson is still available and this was exactly what his was doing all his life – creating a fake customers frustrations around the futures that new audio products were offering.  I do feel that at the very beginning of his public audio career Mr. Pearson did express curiosity to audio subject as he turn full time “professional” his audio thinking become worthless and he turn himself into audio data provider.

Thanks for the link, Romy.  With JGH (RIP) long gone, it's good that HP survived.  Is it just me, or has he pared down his writing style somewhat since "the Episode"?

Here is another link, to his review of this year's version of the "Pipe Dream" speakers:

http://www.hpsoundings.com/2013/02/my-reference-loudspeakers-scaena-model-1-6-founders-series/

How telling is it that Pearson says right away in the review that his first priority (from speakers) is that they reveal differences between other components?

Best regards,
Paul S

Everyone (Reviewer) has his own kind of way to stay in this business. Most buy their stuff at reviewers price from manufacturer, some start with their own gear and think about upgrades and how it can be done ( is a "recommendation " review better for my price than "it's bullshit, but I like it and buy it.."), some get loaners from manufacturers, some are corrupt, some want support for their private websites, some pay the ads with hardware....anyway.... even when HP writes about loosing the soul of music, when you see his systems you will ask yourself automatically: Did he buy that stuff???
I don't think so. HP's music taste is good, no doubt, but also his flavor for super expensive components.

When I strip all that down, we come to the Emperor with his new clothes.... there is no real independence. So, at the end of the day: forget it.
I buy all my stuff, as a customer, and you can't imagine how much hate is shown when I publish MY opinion about what is Bullshit in this Business.... Can you imagine that from a professional reviewer? All are super nice, all lick his shoes, all try to be a friend...have you ever seen this slimy contact at exhibition shows when these assholes enter the room?
Ok, that is business, but much more awful are customers who believe that shit and defend their brainless multi thousand $$ spending...these Fangroups are even worse.I always have a bad taste in my mouth when I see those idiots in action....

Well HP has provided only a couple of posts in the past 6 months and they are very embarrassing to read brief as they are. Whatever one might one think of HP the old TAS was an entertaining and well written mag to read as long as one treated it as a bowl of cherries (Don't take it serious it's too mysterious). I have to wonder if HP's health problems continue or are worsening. Not only because of the sparsity and brevity of his posts but also the poorly written sometimes incoherent reviews being published by his underlings at HPSoundings.

This is very true but actually HP is in an even worse position than you are suggesting. Before he had quite a bit of leverage as Editor of TAS. Now as the Editor of a tiny webblog he has been reduced to writing the most obsequious ads disguised as personal comments for anyone willing to loan him equipment. His underling has to pipe in as well. See the blurbs on Reite Audio and the turntables. The only way for this to work is as a sideline for somone who is financially comfortable or has a good paying day job. I don't think HP is quite in that category (given his ultra expensive tastes as Stitch notes). Also I suspect the new TAS has sent out the word that cooperating with HPSoundings will be a negative. Certainly no one has deserted TAS to join with him. I think we've reached the point where the only place to get straightforward information about audio now is with the amateur enthusiast webblogs.

Joe used to post quite frequently on the AA Sewers until about, I think, 10 years ago when he mostly stopped.  Well, recently there was a thread about Harry Pearson on the Critics Sewer and Joe had a few things to say:

http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/critics/messages/7/76628.html

Apparently HP has left his blog and started another.  Anyway, Joe's rant is at least amusing.

Yep, I do remember Joe, he indeed had the things to say. I need to say that in addition to my general and specific disagreement with this or that reviewer in context of this or that product I usually despise reviewer as a class, as a functional entity. It is not about qualification or luck of it or about serving inters of Sound vs. serving the interests of people who sell the sounds. It rather about absolutely insanely stupid sense of self-importance they all have while they possess a stunning lack of understanding what audio all about and how the true audio works.

A few days back somebody sent me a link to a video report from some kind of another recent audio show, honestly I do not even remember where it was. On the video there were 5 reviewers sitting on 5 chairs and for 1 hour talking about own perception of sounds, tendencies, directions of audio and etc on the show. It was amazingly stupid and I would not allow each single retard among them to dust speaker box on my house but here they were: pontificating on ridicules subjects with the ridicules pretend that they are some kind of Audio gates kipper. I always voted for absolute eradication of that whole leeching class as an industry functional entities and elimination of all those people.
