I disagree with Stitch assessment that ML3/Alexandria combination is expensive mismatch. I do not agree that it is some kind of match as well. Everything is in the hands of a system owner and Sound that playback makes is not a reflection of brands or model but the reflection of playback owner’ awareness. I do not know if Peter Breuninger has awareness the worthy to be reflected. Sine our meeting did not take place I will never learn about it as he made his beast to conceal his awareness. Apparently the “professional audio reviewer” is able to demonstrate his awareness only via his recommendations to brainless people who do not know better to buy audio boxes. It is OK. I did not expect anything more from the people who buy Lamm ML3.
Still, I do feel that listening ML3/Alexandria might be very interesting experience. I less care about high frequency area and control in Bass – that type of assessment the people of Breuninger level shall be able to conduct. I more interested about my exoterically-subconscious capacity of ML3/Alexandria combination – the area where most of audio morons, including the stinky reviewers, do not operate. I did some controversial comments from ML3 owners and the ultimate vindication of the amp would me to spend some time with it. It did not happen in Philadelphia but I thought it might be good opportunity.
Anyhow, the trip in Philadelphia still was great audio success. On Saturday night we hit the Academy of Music with Stokowski Audience Choice concert. It was the Philadelphia Orchestra ride over own pops program:
Bach/orch. Stokowski - Toccata and Fuguein D minor Tchaikovsky - Selections from Suite from The Nutcracker(performed with Fantasia film) Dukas - The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (performed with Fantasia film) Bernstein - Symphonic Dances from West Side Story Stravinsky - Suite from The Firebird Wagner - "The Ride of the Valkyries,” from Die Walküre It was a hallmark of Stokowski’s tenure and it was fun to here THAT program with that orchestra. I had very little expectations from the concert but it turned out to be surprisingly interesting. The Philadelphia Orchestra played very very very good, surprisingly good. I disagree with some interpretations – the whole Nutcracker was more like a parody but they did it with Fantasia animation and it did impacted the way they played of cause. Still, the quality and the professionalism of play were truly eyes-rising. The thru star of the show was their new conductor - Yannick Nézet-Séguin and I think the whole magnificent play that Philadelphia showed was the orchestra reaction to their new musical director who fully assumes his potion next session. I actually am looking to buy some his recording as what I heard and what I have seen made me very enthusiastic about him
