fiogf49gjkf0d Hi Romy. I recently saw a thread which may have been posted some time back to do with using a reflex
box for mid or upper base. My impression is that you are solidly opposed to using this setup within the range
in which it is normally used but in the thread I refer to you seemed to favour it in some circumstances if
there is no room for horns. Could you explain to me what I should be looking at in the reflex enclosure
performance. I recall from the thread that your idea is that it should be used only above where the port
starts to contribute. Maybe when it is about 1 - 2 dB above the normal listed response on flat baffle. I am not sure how you would cope with any port resonance. Thanks for any help or direction to any help if this is well covered. Have a great new year!

Jamikl you need to know in first place that box port doesn't resonance by itself but make the compressed air to pass with lower resistance for a freq range(which can be tuned by port diameter and shape).
Then you need to know that you know nothing about what is happening in sealed or closed box and what it has to do with driver and all technical ...so there is kind advise that find your nearest holy shrine and pray and wait until romy tells you you need to make your box sealed .

I think I am not the best person to ask. My limited exposure to ports went successful, even though I admit that I did not invest any efforts of knowledge to be successful with ports. I hated them before and my failure with my trying to use port ignorantly only solidified my hate. So, I do not think that I am a good a good collaborator about ports and how to make them to sound well since I do not believe in ports.
What should you be looking at in the reflex enclosure performance?
Listen for bass inertia and very poor transient response. Ports floods bass articulation no matter what you do to them. Listen for cleanliness of vowels. No one single box reflex enclosure that I heard able to reproduce atomic vowels clean. I can go on and on about it but I do not see point. I will abandon this thread and let you to talk with people who feel that ports might sound fine. I am not one of them.

fiogf49gjkf0d Hi again Romy. This is the thread I referred to above. It is in the Knowledge Tree section. What do you
define as the melody range? You seemed to think the ported enclosure was OK in that thread and I am
interested in how I might implement the idea. I am not asking about what speaker to use or what size enclosure
but am after a little more about how you think the idea might be implemented. I definitely do not want to use
it as a lower bass enclosure.
