Hello ,

Ive just came across this site , Im an audiophile from Chile . So I decided to join and learn from here . Sorry if my future posts doesnt make sense 100% , it will be because English is not my first language, so youre warned . :-)
My last audio configuration consist on a DIY 2A3-45 amp , Transformers are iso tango and its running a mix of pios and teflon caps in parallel , the dac is a reimyo 999 and the source is a mac pro using a device to bypass the internal clock .
Im using a software for downmixing in mono , not the best solution but it works well . The speakes consists on a 2 way running A.L 802 8G + Tractrix 650hz and the 416 8B , the cabinets are DIY ( hated the A.L 19 cabinets and the 811B horn ) however the drivers are interesting . Im buiding a new cabinet only for mono listening and I will use each channel of the amp to drive each driver , so somebody is building the xover , hoping 650Hz wil be a right choice .
I like DHT , my favorite is the 45 , but cannot forget totally the 2A3 ...

Best for all .

My amp is a stereo 2a3 / 45 . Lately I find my self listening in mono because of the area of my apartment and because I can focus better on the reproduction . So this is not a stereo / mono discussion , just better for my needs . Im planning to use an independent xover passive for high-mids and low . Left channel , right channel , mono highs and lows . The bass is the Altec 416 8B I have explore 2 drivers and one driver and find one driver is better , less room problems . Any idea of this concept ?? is it correct but difficult to implement or is it not worth to try ?? The idea is listening through one speaker onlt , 416 8 b has very good dispersion so im not missing anything on the lows , any idea of a 1" horn with good horizontal dispesion that sounds like or better than tractrix ? Maybe conical from Mr Bill woods ?? Im listening through 650hz wood tractrix . Thanks .
