fiogf49gjkf0d I'd like to ask if anyone sees and appreciable problem with the following.
I'm trying to arrange a 4-way, 3 horns sitting on top of a big bass box. As I have it the 42cm midrange horn (800-8k) is in front of the 95cm lower midrange horn (250-800hz). They are both round traxctix horns. The 'problem' is that the 42cm horn is obscuring 2/3 of the radius (not circumference) of the bigger horn. So you can still see the throat of the bigger horn, but the smaller overlaps it about two thirds of the way in from the edge to the center, if that makes sense.
If there a problem with waves bouncing off the back of the smaller horn or any other imaging of frequency response problems of anything I havent anticipated? (still working on setup, havent been able to fire them up yet and listen)
To avoid the above problem would come at the disadvantage of spreading the drivers out more and apart from the speakers then becoming even more monstrous I'm worried about having driver integration with having the drivers far apart, as I'm currently forced into a very nearfield position (3.3m to drivers)

ps time delay is done digitally which is why smaller horn can be in front of bigger horn

fiogf49gjkf0d KS, I am not following what is your problem is. The “big bass box” is unknown height. Let say that it is it 36” then it will have MF sitting about it. The lower midrange horn with 800hz crossover pint is sitting above MF. So, everything is fine as far as I can see it. Also, if you use digital delays then you do not care about time alignment and you can exert the horns in any direction you wish. Why do you have any obscuring? The 250 horns and 400Hz horns are small and even if you have VERY low ceiling you shall not have any problem with two horns and a box. Care to send a picture made from your ear level? The Cat

fiogf49gjkf0d Romy, the 160hz horn and 425hz horn both sit on top of the bass box, i.e the one is not above the other. Part of the smaller 42cm horn hangs over the front of the box so I'd say the top 30cm of it is above the top of the box and is obscuring the 160hz horn by this much, i.e of the total height of the big horn (95cm), the bottom-most 35cm is being obscured by the midrange horn sitting in front of it. This make sense? Otherwise I can try get my hands on a camera.

fiogf49gjkf0d KS, I can;s visialise what you say. Make a picture of draw a diagram if you wish. But you know the answers – according to my Macondo Axioms all channels shall be located above easy other and no horizontal offset need to be used. Pile them up vertically with no one channel cover others channel and THEN make it to sound properly. Do not use horns as you wish them to be used and then complain about result. Use them as they intend to be used. If you have a herbivore animal then if you wish to feed it with meet then you can do it but then do not complain that the animal do not behave nicely. So, do not abuse your horns, let them to be what they are.
